OK, so add up all you've spent and if you're close to a supercharger then let's compare forced induction to forced induction. Think the Mustang wins again. I love the Supra, but I would prefer it if it were actually a Toyota vs. a rebadged BMW.
I agree with you, for the money you can go much faster in a Mustang then a Supra. Even on my Supra page’s I state the same thing. For the price of a base 5.0 A10, and a Centri kit, some fuel, axles and drag radials and you’re deep in the low 8’s high 7’s. I’ve seen it many times over on this forum. I don’t think I said any where on this page ever I hate Mustangs. I’ve just stated for me the Supra is a better car.

Now if we want to really compare pricing, you have to go with a premium to compare all the creature comforts are close to even. At that point the Supra will come in as the best bang for the buck. it just takes about 2k to get the Supra running in the 10’s, e50 tune and a 400$ downpipe. That’s it, a good track, 2nd gear launch with the stock tires runs high 10’s.

but to get the Supra reliable in the low 8’s cost a ton of money. Like a full mustang and the fi and everything.

Costs for me, my 18 5.0 msrp was 52k I paid 39k, I had easy 15k into it. My Supra was bough as is at 55k, it msrp at 54 and that guy put 15k into it roughly. My mustang got about 11mpg city 22hwy on e85, made 465whp ran 12’s here in Vegas ran 11’s 60-130 and besides the shitty trans was a great car. My Supra get 23mpg city, 35hwy on e50, made 505whp almost 600lbft, runs high 10’s and low 8’s 60-130.

I went from my GT PP1 to a GR Supra. Other then the sound I don’t miss anything about the Mustang. For ME, the Supra is a better car in every way. Except maybe the sound, though I really do love the catless I6 turbo with AWE exhaust. I don’t miss the 10-11mpg the Mustang got on e85, I for sure don’t miss that shit ass horrible MT-82, honestly if I would’ve got a A10 I’d most likely still have the Mustang, but it sat in my garage the last year getting 700 miles on it. I hated driving the car. And the Supra being high 10sec car is nice. I guess on long trips having a little more space is nicer in the Mustang, but I have a Mazda 3 for a daily if we need space.

I got to spend a pinch of time with the new Z when they did that press launch here in Vegas, it does look better in person, the front grill is still a no but I know aftermarket will have something for that. Once you remember it’s a 20 year car though you really start picking up on all the heritage… if you’re a Z fan great, if not it’s a little disappointing

I am happy and also glad to hear the new Supra is better.

Never understood why the MT-82 gets so much hate. To be succinct, I think only Tremec and whatever thr hell Honda uses in the Civic Si/Type R is better.

I bought my car already "built" the guy had easy 15k into it, thats including carbon lips and stuff, the flex kit, tune, DP is about 2k. the intake about 800$, exhaust 2,300$. The car runs NT05r's 305/35 19 and on a "prepped" street ran the best 0-60 dragy of 3.18 and 60 ft of 1.73 doing 11.06@125, At LVMS 60ft was 1.65 doing 10.84@127. I paid 55k for the car, 57 including the trip to Houston to pick it up and drive it home.

The new Supra is just a better car for me, like I said I'm not dumb enough to say it's a better car on the Mustang forums. And maybe my tune would change if I had a A10 with all the mods.

I can say MY MT82 was fucking shit. It wouldn't shift quickly at all over 6k, even after a mantic clutch and the guys rebuilding it after the 3-4 shift fork, it was still hit or miss. I know I know, driver mod. But for some reason I could jump in friends Mustangs and rip to 8k no lift shifts no problem, I just forgot how to drive in my car with my MT82. It was just a shitty trans, I know others with no issues going on with their MY82. MINE was shit.. And that's what just ruined the car for me. Like I said I put 700 miles on it the last year I had it and that was 350 mile trip to SoCal visiting my parents.

Wow, I thought mods for the Challenger were expensive.

I understand your frustration. I've had Honda and Toyota transmisisons that were utter garbage. In fact, the 1997 Supra transmission is just awful. Only slightly better than their econobox transmission.

I don't know if its true, but somebody that knows about these cars said if they would have put the correct tires on the Z, it will do 3.7 to 60 and 118 in the quarter, which would make it faster than the mach 1, supra and even the 1320 (stock).

I seriously looked at the Supra before I got my 2020 GT. But there too many things that i didn't like about the car like no MT.
One thing I'm curious about did they unlock the computer on the car? Part way through the second year production BMW encrypted the computer. I believe it was hardware encryption which made tuning it virtually impossible.

Also did they address the booming that occured when the windows are down? I test drove one and above 40mph I thought my eardrums were hitting each other.

You must have never looked at the price of VW/BMW/Audi/Infiniti mods before.

About the cheapest cars to modify are American, Non-GTR/Skyline Nissan and Honda.

Also to clarify a bit of the conversion here the fastest care does NOT mean it the BEST car. Just means its the best to go fast. Would I ever say my 2000 Escort ZX2 S/R was the FASTEST car in anything? Nope. But that was the best, most rounded car I ever had.
Great MPG.
Good pickup.
Really good handling.
Cheap to fix.
Easy to drive.
FUN to drive.

Not had a car since that ALL of those apply to. 2003 mach1, 2019 Bullitt, 2014 Altima, 2018 Q50 Red Sport, ALL have been missing at least one of those aspect even if it was better in another one.

That may be, but have you looked into how much a cam install is for a Challenger?

I believe it. Traction and tires make a difference.

yes….. no…. No you can’t just call up a tuner and tube the ECU, but yes you can get it unlocked, by sending it to Fetmo in Russia, they set up a office somewhere else due to the war, but you have to send it off. You then have like 2 options, to have a fully unlocked ecu, you have to get it cloned to a second ecu or you can have them unlock it then your tuner can load a tune. That’s the only way right now for a 21 with a locked ecu.

from the factory no Toyota hasn’t fixed the wind buffeting, but aftermarket has, anywhere from 8$ to 150$ you can add a piece by the mirror and it’s solved no buffeting.

Everyone who told me the new 400z would NOT beat the Mustang GT: I'm waiting for you to eat your words.

Who cares even if it does? Are we supposed to feel bad that faster cars exist? Lmao. They're all good cars at the end of the day, but only one makes v8 noises.
