My Mach 1 hasn't arrived yet, but my dad has a Porsche Taycan Turbo and riding in his car is seems extremely fast both in a straight line & sharp turns. Even with all weather tires on it. Do I stand any chance? Be honest please.

I'm such an idiot. I first had a manual Mach 1, then I just ordered an auto thinking it would be faster.

It probably will be but (assume you're talking straight line speed) not even close to Taycan Turbo. Those things are insanely fast in a very different way that ICE cars (I've had some experience with Tesla Model S).

To be fair, at least for the Taycan Turbo, it's not only the straight line acceleration. AWD and all wheel steering, it's so hard to break the car loose in the turns, it just grips forever unless you are truly driving out of control. I've never experienced that in even Ferraris. It's just planted like on train tracks.

What if I go Whipple? I thought the Mach 1 was like the top Mustang track car?

I’d say to be competitive in a straight line you’re definitely going to need to start with the auto Mach 1. Then add a whipple, slicks, supporting mods, and get experience launching it. Basically turn the Mach 1 into something it’s not and maybe you’ll have a chance :)

Outside of a drag strip and fancy tyre I don’t think there is a mustang that will hold onto your dads car from the lights.

From a roll and with enough power, the story might be a little different :like:

On the street, a new M4 will take a 500 off the line.

You’re not an idiot for buying an A10 Mach 1 but I’m not so sure about your thinking you could even get near a $150+k Porsche. 🤭

You're always going to be traction limited. Also Whipple doesn't make torque until engine spins up. electric motors have instant torque.

But I'd say you unnecessarily get hung up on which car is going to be faster. Mach is 3rd or less of a price of Taycan, different drivetrain - enjoy your Mach in its own way. There is always going to be a faster car.

Thanks guys. I'm sure I'll enjoy the A10 Mach 1. I enjoyed my Tremec Mach 1. I was just surprised that the Taycan was that good and it's only their first EV ever. What the heck is version 2.0 going to be like? In the meantime, I'll enjoy lighting up my RWD :-)

So you had a Mach 1 manual, then you took a ride in your dads taycan and sold the Mach 1 manual in exchange for a Mach 1 automatic because you thought it will be quicker than the taycan? And now after you already ordered the Mach 1 automatic it came to your mind to check if your assumption is right? Is that the story or did I miss anything?
