In the wonderful documentary Black Air about the Grand National there is a guy who did a rotisserie restoration and keeps his car in a bubble in his garage. He trailers it to shows, as long as it there isn't a chance of rain. I don't understand that mentality. I would want to rip a 1/4 mile at least once (a day). It takes all kinds I guess.

Not really an appreciating collector car IMO. Unless you seal it up for your Grandkids and even then it's likely not to beat inflation. Too many made and not unique enough among the Mustang brand. It's a great car! Drive it and enjoy it. Forget the value.
If you want an investment, stick your money in something else.

Had you stopped with ā€œI donā€™t understand that mentalityā€ Iā€™d say OK, you donā€™t get it. Thatā€™s fine. But nooo, ā€œit takes all kindsā€ implies thereā€™s something wrong with another guy doing just what he wants with his own car instead of doing what you think he should do. The old Iā€™m right and youā€™re wrong by definition argument. But Iā€™m guessing you donā€™t see thatā€¦

Literally no one read the OP apparently. šŸ¤¦ā€ā™‚ļø

Cool story, Which has absolutely nothing to do with the OPs question.

Taking emotion out of it, I guess the thread title might be partly responsible ?

If we are honest (or slightly pedantic), it could have been worded better and more inline with the question - after all, it's the bolder, bigger title that draws people in and sets the first impression / theme of the topic :like:

It's not a dig at the OP or any of the responders - just an observation after reading the full thread (including the title ... lol) :like:

I bought my M1 as a weekend car. I put 1700 miles on it in one year. My GT is my DD and has been a rock. Itā€™s tuned and fun. I love taking the M1 out on the weekends when itā€™s not raining and having a blast in it. I would love to drive it every day and if the GT ever craps out I will. But for right now its my weekend fun car. As far as modding goes Iā€™m not touching any of the engine. I am going to add side louvers like I have on the GT in the spring as well as finally putting on the HP spoiler at the same time. Other than that thatā€™s it. And you guys have made me think Iā€™m gonna drive it more.
But why not have just the Mach 1 and daily it if if you know it's the better car? I have a fully loaded Premium Performance Pack Recaro right now. I've already got a TR3160 sitting in the garage that I could swap into the GT but it still wouldn't be as good a car as the Mach 1. I've really got no reason to not trade it for a Mach 1. The only thing I'll miss from my GT is the adaptive cruise control.

I would drive the M1 to work sometimes but where I work is filthy and I don't want to bring it there. The GT is loads of fun with the exhaust and tune. I'm in track mode at all times.

What makes my title any "bolder, bigger" than any other ? Please post an example.

He's just saying people read the title and post before reading the rest. In your case, the title and question read a little different from each other which maybe created some confusion. šŸ‘šŸ»

Yes, thatā€™s what I was getting at :like:

Itā€™s the title that pulls you in. I canā€™t imagine anyone blindly opening a thread to read the first post - by that time the scene is already set.

I guess once most people are in a thread, their train of thought is already set in a specific direction by the title (which probably carries more influence than the exact wording of the first post).

Once you are in a thread, the boldest, biggest text font on the page is the thread title.

Again, it's not a dig at the OP or any of the responders - just an observation after reading the full thread (including the title ... lol) :like:

Letā€™s put it in a fun way :

Thread title = Thatā€™s the podium in a strip joint.

Some wording in the first post = What ? Sorry, not got time for that, Iā€™m still busy staring at the podium ā€¦ :giggle:

Just coming back to my post above after reading the latest photo of the month contest thread.

  • Title = Mustang Photograph of the Month Contest ā€“ February 2024
  • 1st post = The rules.

There are currently eight entries.

Two of those entries break the rules, which you guessed it, are clearly stated in the 1st post, in the same statement with one of them even highlighted and underlined in bold red text ... :giggle:

The guidelines are simple: -

- *** Only one, single photograph to be submitted by a contributor in the given month (no collages).

Regards,
Chris
