Game Over nothing more to discuss. Ford seriously missed the boat here by not putting a DCT paired with the Gen3 NA engine. Im not asking for anything fancy. DCT NA Gen3 under 60k and it would print money.

M1 pricing too high for what it is. 55k loaded all options sure then Id prolly see the value in a M1. Over 60k NOPE thats used GT350R money.

Lastly the ADM dealers want is exactly why the used market is crazy. Its 100% self inflicted by the dealers.
I agree, negotiated $55,028 for premium 6-speed with HP, wouldn’t have bought it for sticker much less with ADM.

OP, I really like your test drive review. I watched this thread as you went through the pros and cons of the M1. I did the same thing. So, last year I sold my Bullitt with the Whipple on it. Hated the gearing of the transmission but thought it shifted great. Since I owned a Bullitt, I know what the car will accelerate like. Same hp/tq.

So, I am buying the M1 with the full intention of installing at least 4.09 gears, and preferably 4.56 but it would require a custom tune as Forscan doesn't go that high unless Ford changes the mapping in the M1.

You made a great decision. Your car will be a thing of beauty, perform excellent as well.

Congratulations on your new M1!
Thanks I appreciate it! Seriously considering 4.09’s for it but not a whole lot else left to mod.

Not what I would do. I would get a foreskin device which is about 30 bucks and then you can get a free license online for 2 months and you can change your gear ratio from 3:15 to 3:31 to 355 to 409. If he doesn't know that that's in the stock file then he's not very knowledgeable.
Unfortunately that doesn’t work on 2019+ cars...there’s a huge thread on that.

My understanding is that after the addition of Rev Match in 2019 there is no longer a 4.09 option in the BCM.

“I’m not asking for anything fancy, just that Ford puts their most expensive transmission, from their most expensive car, in my lower priced model.....without charging me extra for it.”

Nope, not asking for anything fancy at all lol

Then that seals it. I'll need a custom tune from Steeda. If so, I'll do the 456 gears

Thanks to the feedback on the gear changes. This means if we want the gear change we need a custom tune as you guys say means the car will need the tune when sold or the diff will have to be changed back to stock and the stock tune reinstalled.

Though I would rather do the gears, I thing I may just go straight to the blower. 1st will still be long, but what the heck?

That's why I initially mentioned the HPTuners option. You can simply change the setting for the gear ratio in the tune, and not touch the factory performance tune. If you later get a custom tune, most tuners are going towards HPTuners so you'd have to purchase the credits anyway to get a custom tune.

If you're doing a blower you don't want the gears anyway.

I'd rather do the gears. I put a blower on my Whipple and he had massive power but it doesn't change the gearing. Just because there's more low end torque with a blower doesn't mean it's not a hassle to start out in first gear. I had a blower on my 11 with 373 gears and much steeper first gear and the car was an absolute blast to drive. Whereas my Bullitt made a lot of power with a blower but it still had that start up long first gear.

If you're handy, take out the diff and give that and the gears to your gear guy for install. I did it that way, total cost of the install with parts was only around $600 (plus I didn't need a tune for the 2018). If you just go to your Ford dealer and ask for the install it will be about $300 for gears plus $200 install kit plus 12 hours labor plus tune, and I'm not sure they could even do the tune.

Go to HPtuners.com
Look at the MPVI2. It plugs into the OBD2 port, comes with their Scanner and Editor software. 2018+ Mustangs need 4 credits to make changes.

Cruise the forums and read up. If you aren't comfortable with that, a knowledgeable tuner, familiar with HPTuners (most reputable tuners are) can make the change.

Ford uses a "Vehicle ID" block to read the gear ratio programmed in the stock tune. HPTuners allows you to DISABLE this setting and manually set the gear ratio.

So for around $490 (device, software and 4 credits) you can make the change for gear ration. As a bonus, if you get a custom tune, you are only paying the tuner for their time and their tune file. If you didn't have this setup, you'd need to buy the device, the credits and the tune file. You wouldn't need anymore hardware, just pay for their tune file, they email it and you upload it via the device you already have.
