So after hearing multiple people say that Auto’s don’t get the tax now, I went to cars.com to check out window stickers . Attached are the first 5 autos near me.
Sure enough none have it now.
WTF!
How should we get our money back from Ford??

From my understanding, the GGT was due to production date of the vehicle, not whether it was an auto vs a manual transmission.

I wonder why that would make a difference?? Does anyone know why?
Did Ford change something as far as the car getting better gas mileage from the different dates? I highly doubt it.
(I'm not questioning you personally Cobra Jet, just asking anyone that knows the answer to reply.)

***Side Note: I think the GGT is a fucking scam anyways. That's just my personal opinion.
I paid it twice already on the 2 Mustangs I have owned.

I contacted Ford Performance and this is the response :

"I asked about the Gas Guzzler tax and this is still being looked at and a plan on how to handle instances like this still being determined.
They do want me to ask for your full name, VIN, and phone number to record so that when we do have a solution ready to implement, we can reach back out to you."

I will also reach out to Ford when I have time to start a case if this one falls through.

I'm not paying anymore taxes than I have to these days!

Thank You,

I believe the tax is determined on how many vehicles have been produced during the calender year.

What I would do to get my money back is to first call Ford and tell them and perhaps email of fax them your purchase order that shows the tax and dealer/salesman. Get the name of the person at Ford you are communicating this issue with and a way to contact that person. After all that, contact your salesman and tell them to contact the Ford person and that "should" get you your money back.

Thanks Howard, I agree
What’s the best # to use to contact Ford customer relations?

I would start with Ford Performance. The guys there are amazing and will help or give you the appropriate group to straighten it out. This is their number 800-367-3788 x1 .

Alternately, the Ford Marketing Number is : 800-334-4375 .

Agreed. 2019 Bullitt didn't have it, 2020 did. Same damn car. Ridiculous.

I completely understand, no worries.

I just think it's BS that some guys are getting nailed with the GGT, and others with the same configured vehicle are not.

When I first started seeing the GGT on some window stickers, it seemed like those I was finding were on the MT82, but then I saw some on the 10R80's. Then I saw some with same transmissions with no GTT.

I'm looking at a sticker now and there is no GTT; it's an M1 w/ the 10R80 and the 700A package, and sticker production date I'm seeing is 03/16/21. That is the only date seen at bottom of Window Sticker under the "Ford Credit" block.

Maybe folks can post up their window sticker dates and that might lead to the "why"? Just not sure.

If this GGT is a "whoops" on Ford's part (should never have been on the Window Sticker) and they have been informed of it or questioned of it by M1 Owners - then they should be reimbursing all M1 Owners who paid the GGT.

To me, it surely doesn't make sense that some new car M1 Buyers would be required to pay the GGT and those with the same configured vehicle would not, especially if assumed this is being applied based on how many cars were produced within X-calendar period.
