Agreed. Am sure we'll see some direct comparison tests next year. Mach 1 HP Auto vs. 350R, the Shelby should still have a leg up in the corners, whereas Mach 1 vs regular GT350 should be pretty close. In a straight line, Mach 1 Auto should beat both.
Mechanical grip will matter. If a car is going as fast as it can into and tracking out of a corner - additional speed (HP) will not be applied until pretty much straight and stops again the moment you touch the brakes. Just saying that 20hp one way or another could be the least important thing if comparing these two cars on a track.

You cared enough to respond......
Right - because you apparently didn't read...so to be polite, for your benefit, I reiterated.

And again - who cares?
Agreed. As an owner of just a plain 460HP GT/CS, I'd be more than happy with either of these cars. I love the Mach 1 and will consider it down the road (I have to have the A10). That said there are two things the Mach 1 will never have, a Cobra and a Voodoo. GT350 owners can take solace over that regardless of the Mach's performance.

I bought the GT350R for two reasons the manual gearbox and the VooDoo. All other parts and pieces are irrelevant to me when its come to the Mach1. I am just fortunate to stumble on my HEP R and have a little piece of history.

Carefully chosen words from the Ford brand manager. Being a couple of hundred pounds lighter will favor the Mach 1, but keep in mind that on "a short road course", both cars will struggle to keep up with Miata's and Caymans.

this is right. base mach 1 is $53k. add options and you are right around $60k. you can get a "last of its kind" 2020 gt350 for similar price. that said i do like the fighter jet gray with orange accents Mach 1. looks sweet. but it aint a gt350.
Yeah the color design is nice but thats only with the manual I believe, the automatic doesn't look good imo and yeah the options will jack up the price.

TBH with the whole voodoo vs coyote argument, I still feel like its better to go with the voodoo. If you are going to buy a sports car with a 'bulletproof' engine its a better value to get it used since reliability won't be an issue. You could buy it and not worry about how much abuse it received from the previous owner, mostly you just have to look for cosmetic damage, you also don't have to worry about the the engine being a 'ticking timebomb'.

Its a better purchase to get it used vs dropping the +$50k on getting it new imo. I would be a lot more nervous and careful abut getting a used GT350 than a used Mach1. Also its not a Shelby, so the values will drop (maybe 30k-45k?). I do think the Mach1 will really shine once they start showing up on the used market. Maybe these will make the PP2 values drop so they will be even more attainable. If I were interested in the Mach1 I'd let someone else take the deprecation hit, its the equipment on it has already been tested so its not going to have any issues (hopefully).

We will be reading the same type of threads comparing the Mach 1 to a new Boss, assuming Ford builds one. I appreciate Ford's attempts to "freshen the breed" with new Mustangs at regular intervals.
