I just sold my 2017 Ecoboost Mustang Premium and I am in the market for a GT. I have found two cars that checks most of the boxes. One is a 2017 GT premium with the performance pack and only 5k miles. The other is a 2019 GT Premium with performance pack 1, digital dash, recaros and 50k miles. The 2019 checks nearly every box except I prefer the 2017 body style. They are very similarly priced.

Does the advantages of the Gen 3 coyote and the added interior features outweigh the low mileage of the 2017?

Coming from a 2017 EBM with only 7k miles, the 2017 would feel very familiar and I worry I won't like that. I just don't know that the 2019 is worth the higher mileage.

Low mile car all the way.

There's not that much difference in the interior between the two. And the '17 is better looking too (here we go again). 😁

both 6 speeds?
Yeah both are 6 speeds.

I am definitely leaning towards the 2017. I could always go aftermarket seats if I need the support. I may eventually start doing track events but not in the immediate future. And if I really want the digital dash, it is possible to retrofit.

2017 because you don't want your engine to wear out prematurely. 2018+ use GDI instead of port.

2018+ use a mix of DI and port injection....

The only issue you run into with that setup is bad tanks of fuel can cause pre-detonation. In a NA configuration it is not as harmful. Once you are in a FI setup it is much more critical. This is what happens with Ecoboom and other factory turbo direct injection cars. I am not worried about that on a Gen 3 Coyote.

That being said, I have a deposit on the 2017 and will be finalizing the deal this weekend. Thanks for the insight everyone.

Looks like you made up your mind and I think I would have gone for low miles, too. Gear ratios are quite different but you probably knew that already.

Is been around in other platforms for quite a while. DI works just fine, port injection keeps the carbon build up from happening.
Meanwhile other DI vehicles like the Escape are having engine and turbine issues at 70k miles. If that's stable, then you ate absolutely correct.

Escape is having issues on the cooling side from what I've read. Look at the focus, fiesta, anything with the 2.0 ecoboost. Look at all the 2.7 and 3.5 ecoboost or there. They all have one common issue, carbon build up on the intake valves because no fuel flows over them. Port injection fixes that.

The position of the port injectors on the '18+ engines is unchanged from the previous gens, and aims directly at the intake valves, keeping them clean.

And the unchanged injector location is why you can plop an '18+ intake manifold onto a previous gen 5.0 and reap the benefits....

for the few vehicles driven over 20k miles annually, it doesn't. The rest are having issues.
