INITIAL THOUGHTS ON THE SHELBY GT350:
This has always been in my mind the Halo car from the S550 generation that made its debut in 2015. I remember going to a local dealership where they had a brand new 2016 (tech pkg) in Avalanche Gray. It was unlike any Mustang I'd ever seen and had such a intimidating presence. I was able to test drive several used models in the past, but I came to the conclusion that it was pretty useless to do so as you really cannot get a feel for this car on a test drive.
My drive back from Indiana in January felt somewhat like a test drive because I was driving on Michelin Cup2 tires in 40 degree weather. The MPSS tires are now installed and I have to say I notice a significant difference in reduced tramlining and overall confidence. The car feels smaller, lighter than my previous GT's with quicker steering response and precise handling. I made the mistake with my first GT of throwing a lot of mechanical and suspension mods on the car relatively quickly without thinking through what I really wanted. The final result was not good and I really struggled with enjoying the driving experience afterwards. Looking back i probably should have kept at it and re-adjusted some things, but by that time I was wanting to try the convertible. Both experiences have given me an appreciation for this car and it's differences.
Interior feels up scaled a bit from the previous model years, although I never complained about the interiors as I think all of the Mustang's interiors with the S550 refresh have been solid. The upgraded B/O stereo system is nice and little touches like the start button matching the shift knob, soft touch materials on door trim/side of center console, as well as the cobra puddle lamps are appreciated. It feels closer to the GT premium interior but without the My Color and ambient lighting which I miss. Visibility is great, probably the best out of all 3 Mustangs i have owned, with the exception of the vert top down. My model does have the BLIS feature which I am so appreciative of; I really like this feature as a secondary warning and I was never a big fan of the small extended view mirrors mounted in the upper corner on previous models. My brain just couldn't process that for some reason on other vehicles i've driven in the past.
Appearance wise it's just hard to describe how good this car looks.... the stance....lines, etc.. attracts a lot of attention, looks, waves, smiles. I appreciate the active exhaust feature as I can shut off the valves and be covert if I choose to be.
Performance wise, the GT350 is probably the perfect car for me as I am not a fan of instant torque which presses you into your seat from stop light to stop light. I will probably never own an electric sports car (I know, never say never) as the on/off switch of instant torque that takes you from 0-60 in 2-3 seconds never appealed to me. I hated driving my wife's Sienna mini van because it had that on/off switch feel. The car feels composed and almost docile when driving on the street. It's just doesn't have an intimidating feel in regards to acceleration when just cruising around town, which is mind boggling when you think of the performance capabilities of this car.
My wife actually was behind the wheel on the first real spirited drive since taking it out of storage. It's a long story, but guys remember to put your wife first, lol. I was very interested in her perception of the vehicle as she had driven both of my GT's extensively. I hate to say it, but she is as proficient or perhaps even more driving a manual sports car. Her first comment was "this feels very different" as she recognized the overall handling capability and nimbleness of the 350.
She was a little confused at first with the lack of immediate torque, but once I explained the expanded rev range of 8250 and the torque curve she very quickly started doing pulls up to 7500+ which put me back in my seat every time. We both chuckled and had grins on our faces for literally an hour as we did pull after pull. Her comment was "that's pretty incredible" I realized during our venture that you can still have a LOT of fun with this car while obeying the law and staying safe. I will say that the torque curve does come on pretty quickly when you have some room to run with this car, I was expecting a "lag" per se, but step on the gas aggressively and the torque curve comes on quick and it will pull you back in your seat. You quickly realize that the 526HP is no joke. This was on fairly straight country roads without aggressive curves, anxious to get it out in the twisties and eventually on the track.
Looking forward to more experiences with the car as I get to know it more. I still feel like i'm driving it home from the dealership for the first time every time I get into it. The car has such a wide range of capabilities that I'm just scratching the surface of.

Had some time this Saturday to work on the Shelby, installed what has to be one of favorite mods, the clutch pedal extension. It really improves the manual driving experience to be able to sit back away from the wheel and experience a shorter throw to the foot/leg. I really appreciate the easy clutch pedal in the 350 as my knees are not getting any younger..

Finally had time to do some detailing/washing as the 350 was really dirty from a cruise a week ago. . Purchased a Ryobi brand Power Washer, Foam Cannon and Foam Wash from Griots. To my dismay the foam cannon would not fit on the provided gun/wand of the power washer. Ended up going to Northern Tool to purchase a separate gun and couplings to finally get it to fit.
Once I got the correct gun attachment the foam cannon and soap from Griots worked well... lots of foam and took approx 80% of the dirt, grime, bugs, etc.. away. Still had to do a 2-bucket and some waterless wash spray to get the tough stains off the front fascia. Overall I was very happy with the results. It didn't even touch the brake dust on the wheels though.. had to do my normal wheel cleaner, wheel woolies routine to get those clean. Hate that they went to a gloss black finish... really wish they had stayed with the satin on the 2019's Will most likely get the wheels coated because it was a lot of work getting them to look decent.
The Ceramic coatings make it so much easier to wash. The fact that I didn't have any type of wax or coating didn't help as my paint was not very hydrophobic. Will be working on that next....I haven't decided what I am going to go in regards to coatings, ppf, etc.. Leaning towards Auto Flex and then a spray on ceramic coating such as Ammo Flex or Griots new product.
I've been watching a lot of videos from Auto Fanatic, Ammo NYC, Griots, Obsessed Garage, etc..trying to come up with the right equipment and routine to make this a streamlined, fairly quick process to keep the car reasonably clean during the season. Not talking about intense car show detailing, jut a good maintenance wash. The problem is that some of these guys have ultra expensive equipment that I just cannot justify for just washing my car occasionally. I am not a pro detailer, nor do I wish to spend all day washing and detailing.
Here are a few pics.. sorry pulled the car in the garage and forgot to take some outside, I guess I was so exhausted after spending all day trying to get things assembled, running to Northern Tool for the parts and then finally washing the car. I will post more pics on the pressure washer gun and attachment to fit the griots foam cannon along with an explanation of why they didn't fit...

Car is looking good! Where did you happen to find the license plate frame? I've been looking, just haven't found one yet I care for... Thanks

After a failed experiment with the Ryobi power washer, I decided to purchase a Sunjo off Amazon. To my delight the Griots foam canon fit perfectly on the wand end without any issues. The Sunjo had noticeably improved performance/foam output vs the Ryobi. Another added benefit is that the pump only engages/runs when the guns trigger is activated which keeps the noise down and saves on the pump.
My second test with the Griots Foam wash was also much improved. I had taken a 6 hour road trip with my daughter to Lacrosse WI last Monday and the car was very dirty... got caught in some rain and the bugs on the front end were completely covering parts of the bumper.
The foam wash once again took care of 90% of the dirt, I had to finish up with a two bucket/MF Mitt wash on the front fascia to remove the rest of the bugs, but everything was so lubricated that it was quick and easy to get the remainder off.
Had to pre-wash the wheels before foaming as the brake dust does not come off with just the foam. I still need to streamline my process, but it's getting easier each time.
Overall very pleased with the results.

Great work!!

With the wheels, try something like this -

CarPro Hydr02 is a spray on, rinse off product that works really good on wheels, preventing the need to remove each wheel to apply a coating.

Once coated the wheels will wash and dry easier and improve the gloss. One application should last 4-6 months.

Upgraded Sync 3 to version 3.4, configured my Garage Door Opener and Cleaned her up!
Was getting the update notice for a while and found a good thread here on the forum. Went out to the Ford website, registered and downloaded the update to a USB Flash Drive. Put the drive in while the car was running (per instructions) and went for a little cruise while it did it's thing.
Love how this paint morphs and changes color characteristics at dusk and nighttime. You can still tell it's a blue color when dark out vs some colors looking black. This color is growing on me: I originally wanted Magnetic Gray, but ended up with my second choice.

Took my 350 to a local detailer: Total Package Detailing to get a consultation on Ceramic Coating and PPF. Contemplating doing the following:
Full GTechniq Ceramic Pro
PPF on Front Bumper Fascia, Rear Deck Lid, and Trunk threshold
Replace rear spoiler with 2018 MY Track Pack Spoiler
Stripes- since the rear stripes are designed to move around the stock "swing" spoiler I have a feeling replacing the spoiler is going to leave gaps.
I am contemplating removing them or replacing them with a higher quality stripe kit, perhaps carbon fiber, different color, silver, gray? The Stock Black Vinyl is full of scratches/swirls and appears that it's going to be a headache to maintain. I really like the look of the stripes on the Shelby's but want something that is going to hold up well.

Just picked up the July issue of Car and Drive Magazine. The Shelby GT350 made the list of Greatest Cars from the era of the 1990's- to Present. The awards keep piling up for this ground breaking vehicle.

Did some experimenting with the Power Washer today. Purchased a longer 50ft Hose which goes from the unit to the gun because the stock unit that came with the Sun Joe was junk; hard plastic with very little flexibility. The original cord was 25ft, but because of the lack of flexibility it felt much shorter. The new hose was much more flexible but still was curling up and causing issues. It was highly recommended by Auto Fanatic on one of his videos. Going to stretch it out and see if it loosens up a bit. Still working on couplers, quick connects, etc to make the whole process faster and more efficient. More to come....Sorry didn't get any pictures of the new cord stretched out. I am also thinking of getting some of those hose gliders that fit underneath the tires.
