Hello; Back 15 years ago I bought a place of my own and wanted to try to relive some of my youth. I wanted to get a 1970's Porsche 914 something like the one i had in the 70's. Found out soon enough the speculators had been buying up any and nearly all the 914's from owners. Drove the price up and had no knowledge of the car itself. I eventually put the notion on a far back burner.

He doesn't want to buy from a scalper, because he IS the scalper lol
Sure thing, let me go let a dealer make 10k off me , would I still he a scalper then? I'll take being a scalper over being a sucker

If your serious, not insinuating you’re not, I’m sure you know what you’re after there aren’t a lot of out there. The other side to that is those that have those cars(I have one to), know what they have or are sitting on depending on perspective. It’d probably help your search by being more specific. Color, options, price range, etc. Pretty much in the high 80’s and above for a 19 and well in to the 90’s and above for a 20. From your post above it seems youā€˜re purely shopping on price. There’s a reason why these cars, especially what you’re after, bring top dollar. Best of luck though, they’re amazing. Basically mechanical art.

Would prefer a sub 1k mile 20 heritage edition NON R if I had to pick and I’m willing to pay the going rate on BaT

I understand the OP does not want to involve middlemen. But given the parameters, connecting with a consigner might be a good route to take.

An established consigner has contacts throughout the industry and the Owner groups. Unbeknownst to anyone, there might be someone on the fence about selling. Or the consigner will know quickly if one is coming up for sale. There are some good dealers out there, ones that vet the car and the seller or know the seller personally.

Places like BAT and others are well and all, but bidding wars would always be a concern. Any of those cars could quickly price out what the OP was expecting. Frustrating.

Best Wishes in whatever comes about.

15 mile old for for 82 recently as well. That website shows the 10% but fee included by the way , because they where sold at mecum . Or maybe it’s a 12% fee anyways

70k is what my spending range is for a 20 heritage with sub 500 miles is . Thats the market at the moment

Just for clarity, you think a car that sold for 88k at the end of Jan., cold months sale , now the market is 70k for. Regardless, this is way off from starting out wanting an R with sub thousand miles. We see these threads pretty regularly, the one thing that’s consistent, they never buy a car. Best of luck though.

88k with a 10 to 12% buy fee in that price shown depending if they where in person or online . Market isn’t going up, it’s cooled off. I buy lots of cars, I’ve had more mustangs than years I’ve been alive and I’m talking all sub 5k mile mint ones excluding my old 70 bosses . I’ll update this with a pic of whatever I buy

Ok thanks was hoping to find an owner here I can pay directly to instead of paying some scalper dealer on an auction website
Bring a trailer is a reputable auction site. I've used it in the past as they are great.
Sure there is the buyer fee that you are probably referring to being the scalper, but you are paying for the service to have access to extremely low mileage perfect vehicles.

It is well worth it to go through bring a trailer to purchase a near perfect vehicle and pay the fee than wait years for a car of your liking to show up on autotrader, ebay or craigslist classifieds as for sale by owner.

Most people that have no miles on those types of highly desirable vehicles will go to bring a trailer anyway to have access to the high bidding sellers and will usually get more money than selling their car independently.
