I bit the bullet and got the '16 PP GT. Sport mode is insane! I got what I was looking for out of the power and am satisfied. Thanks for the help!
Whereabouts you located in GA? Feel free to PM me.

If you're anywhere near ATL, make sure you check out Caffeine and Octane! It's a big meet every month and we always have a ton of S550s out there.

Congrats on the buy but this thread is confusing.
Cliff notes:

Test drove 2016, didn't feel like it had 435 HP and was disappointed
Others gave suggestions to make it feel more torquey
I bought the GT anyway.
Used sport mode and premium gas and found the torque I expected.
Now I'm happy and not disappointed.

I think a lot of it is the computer nannies. Even my ecoboost if I put it in track mode and shut the traction control all the way off (hold it for 10 seconds) it spins the tires like crazy but in normal sport mode its all ho-hum boring, barely a chirp from the tires now and again. I still think I prefer the more raw feeling of the older mustangs, but ultimately this makes for better sales as people aren't as scared of a car beyond their driving ability as they should be - just look at all the wrecks when they get around to trying to show off.

I hate to admit this but I've yet to put mine into track mode (21K miles so far) :( Not even while cruising through the Mojave Desert. My gal must hate me..

Congrats it took me 3 test drives before I fully warmed up to the GT. The last time I had a sales guy really eager to make a sale as he was egging me to punch it in the back roads lol. Sports mode definefly makes it a blast!

So is sport mode a "premium only" mode? I didnt have any modes like that in my base. Do got some kinda "advance sport trac" which I have yet to feel anything that it does. ..bummer

Advancetrac Sport Mode (double-tapping the TC button in a base car) improves throttle response some and lessens TC/SC intervention. Sport mode in premium car does the same thing, and is NOT the same thing as the Sport gear-select in an auto. All that changes is shift points and how long it holds gears.

Pretty sure he meant the sport mode that affects throttle response, which I definitely use in my manual S550 lol.

No, sport mode (along with several other drive modes) is a premium trim item. They alter steering "feel", TC settings, and throttle map. I've always thought the drive modes are a little gimmicky, but YMMV
