Looks great. How about some in sunlight?

Not great sunlight because daylight savings day. Sun is already starting to go down by the time I get home from work. The paint work on the car is very good. Problem for me is the color just isn’t quite right. The guardsman blue on the original 350s I have seen do not have a purplish tint to them ever. So maybe I’m crazy but I am leaning towards getting it redone. Mostly because of what the car is. It’s a heritage edition and part of what makes the car what it is, is the colors. It needs to be right.

This is why im.holding out. There.are so many paint codes for guardsman blue. I woukd go to ppg or any paint rep w the stripe and have them custom make w a spectrometer gun. Let them know its gonna be shot over the base. Then have the painter do some test cards to. (3 or 4 light to dark) and pick what yiu thinknoa right.

Photos.can be deciving but it looks to me too dark and too much tint.

IMO. I don’t think they are going to panic. It’s the last year for the GT350. They can hold on to one car and get what they want. I know it’s all about selling units, but this is the last opportunity for them to capitalize on the car. They will hold out, I’m pretty sure. My opinion!
Most dealers will sit on it for a long time. Something for ppl to look at when they come in and maybe get the right guy. When there ready to actually sell it they will drop it.

When directly under light it looks a lot closer but most of the time it’s darker than it should be and just favors more toward purple when it should be favoring more greenish or even a gray kind of tone in the blue. It’s not purplish as much as sonic blue or Kona blue was but heading that direction. The paint mix just didn’t quite go right. If I had an Oxford white 350 I’d be good with it, but not on the Wimbledon white.

I think it looks fantastic. But I think you're right about the tint.

Lighting has a big impact too. How does it compare with the vinyl stripes that were on it?

Otherwise, I'm betting you were after this, which has more of an aqua tinge:

Have to agree based on the pics, seems too dark/purple without that slight greenish tinge. Bummer, otherwise seems like a great job.

If the paint shop said they would match the vinyl, have them repaint them. If it would be your dime, that would be a hard call.

As others have said, if redone, insist on sample cards until one matches the factory vinyl. Hope you still have some to make that easier.

Honestly this is why I'd rather just keep the vinyl. Its much easier to care for. If the stripes get damaged it sucks, but I can just get them replaced them. And if you mess up putting them on you can just take them off and do it again.

When you go for a paint job you can run into all sorts of problems. I can understand if you get black or white stripes painted, but Guardsman blue is a really specific color, and really won't know how well it will looks until it's completely done.

I am planning on getting an unpainted Tow Hook and get it painted or powder coated in Guardsman blue. I have been looking for the color code of Guardsman blue and there are a bunch of different codes out there. So I feel like its pretty hard to get an exact color. If it doesn't come out the color I want I can always just make it black.

Someone has to be the Guinea pig. Haha. I will get it figured out and when I do I will post pictures and will pass what the paint code is for others.

So, why not contact a reputable Shelby restoration guru and get the guardsman paint code? R&A Auto could likely point us all in the right direction with paint codes:

Also, could factors of water vs poly based paints have something to do with it?

I think I’ll try and give R&A Motorsports a call Monday. I see the GT350 they did back in April. They will definitely be a good start.
