Just for fun picked up some 1964 guardsman blue poly rattle can spray and painted a piece of aluminum. Primer couple coats of paint and clear coat. Good comparison of guardsman blue and whatever ended up on my car in the same light. The last is a comparison to the vinyl stripe. Color isn’t that hard to find after all. Last picture isn’t my hand. It’s the painters and the wife’s. I don’t paint my nails.
All I can say is wow. Those pictures say it all.

Did the painter say how the color he used was so far off the color of the factory vinyl? Was it another of the colors Ford called Guardsman? Did he look up a code for blue stipes on a non HEP? Did he buy the paint mixed and they screwed up the color? ???

I just sent a shotgun blast to all the email addresses on the site. Will let you know what they say.
I just used the chat function on the website above and they said the Owner's Supplement should be received 6-9 weeks after delivery.

Also just got this email

Hello David,

We have your information reported and the kit is in process. Normally they take about 6 to 8 weeks for delivery. If everything is reported, it will be kitted and mailed within the next few weeks.

Thank You,

There is an abundant amount of information about vinyl stirpes and painted stripes. You do not need to be a rocket scientist to know this and find the pros and cons of doing vinyl or painted stripes. There have been improvements to the way vinyl is manufactured over the years.

I simply stated that vinyl stripes are easier to care for because they are replaceable. The cost of replacing them offset the cost of getting them painted, because painting costs way more money, and can go wrong as the process is complicated which is what we have just witnessed.

You don't need to own a bunch of Mustangs to realize this. It is common sense. If you believe that you need to own a bunch of GT350s to come to this realization then there is something wrong with you. You are only making yourself look more like a pretentious dick by gatekeeping. The GT350 is not the only car that has racing stripes. You are arguing and trying to prove a point about nothing. You are the only one who cares. Just stop. If you want to live like its 1965 do it and get rid of your internet.
Hi. I have to agree. Their is no comparison on Vinyl and Painted on stripes with three or four coats of clear. The vinyl scratches easily and cannot be buffed back out to perfection. Just my Opinion and experience with paint.

Spoke with Jim today over at OVC. He was very helpful and helped me get in touch with Steve at VIP collision who is in Henderson, Nevada. That’s who paints the OVC GT350s for them.

If I were to do the painting of the stripes again from the beginning that’s where I think I would have tried to get them done. Since I’ve already gone with someone local in SoCal I’m going to get it right with the ones who painted them here. We have the color narrowed down to 3 that are very close. Going to get the colors painted on a sample and then go from there. Should have the car back into them for the repaint in January.

Who has installed the Redline QuickLift hood struts? How odd does the black brackets look installed? I picked up a can of Dupli-Color EBFM00417 Wimbledon White Ford Perfect Match Automotive Paint and am thinking about rattle canning the brackets. Car is in the shop waiting on parts to finish the adjustable front strut mount install, so haven't seen how well the paint matches.

Do you have a link to the spray paint that you bought?
