I THINK the point is not just to get a wider tire, but a wider stance hence more potential for cornering stability (harder to roll over, etc). Or something like that. But in reality, I think most people do it because they feel it looks cool. And they are wrong, in my humble opinion. It can look OK if it is well blended, but this looks horrible to me at least.Good question. I think it came from trying to fit wider tires in cars that were designed for 235 wide wheels at the most, and it just became a trend. To throw fenders on a car that can fit a 295 or 305 wheel or even more than that from the factory(they did a kit for lamborghini) makes no sense. At that point you're trying to make your car as flashy and different as possible to stand out. The car culture has become such that if you are different then you are better. Different has turned into ridiculous more often than not. Just my $.02
I always thought that the S550 already looks like it has a mild wide-body kit which looks great. Agreed, I don't see the point. My whole question is whats the point beyond looks? You can get a stupid wide wheel under the stock fenders already and they are clean. The whole "stance" thing is just stupid.
Looks like a car that's been modded at autozone
That sound you hear is a thousand faces being inserted into a thousand palms.OP, the people that usually get a kit like you posted are also the fools that mess with the camber on the car. This is for them.
