Almost 3700 lbs. Same as my GT.
Hmmm....believe autoblog who probably got their info directly from Daimler or believe random guy on the internet. Decisions, decisions. At 3,600 lbs (not “almost 3700 lbs”) it is still 3-400 lbs lighter than GT500 and probably right on par with a loaded C8.

100 lbs. Big fucking deal. Point being Jr there are heavier cars than the vette that are faster at the ring.

Lets say Corvette did a faster 0-60 even is base trim compared to GT500 and then the GT500 still passed it in the quarter mile but then on a very long stretch the GT500 maxed out at 180 mph but the Vette keeps going. I still don’t get it that why Ford is limiting the top speed on this beast. It should have been a 200+ mph car. On paper it looks bad in reality only handful of people going to go that fast anyways but still.

Aero problems I expect. And/or insurance/CAFE classification. I really don't get why anybody gives a damn what the top speed might be. People who race for real replace the ECU or get special dispensation from the factory. Ditto who gives a good damn what the 0-60 or 1/4" mile times are. How many people drag race for real money and sponsorship? 99.99% of owners don't have the skill to repeatedly achieve the so-called spec. Masturbating to paper specifications seems especially pointless.

Yea that spun... there is no way its hitting 60 under 3 on the street. Both accelleration videos ive seen have showed loss of traction. Its not going to take off like a tesla without AWD.

Aero problems I expect.
I think this is true. At 180+ there would probably be so much downforce it may break parts off like the front splitters and rear spoiler , like thousands of lbs of downforce and it would create a lot of drag.

Do you think the GT500 will beat the ZR1?
Not really sure.
I would love to see one of each line up, both automatics, of course. Best out of 3. Should be great races.
How about you? What do you think?

So Ford is saying they low balled the GT500. Actually 850hp. 0-100-0 in something like 10.6 secs. Not bad for a heavy car.

Citation?
760HP -> 850HP is understating the truth by nearly 12%. Since Ford is all about bragging rights (at least vis a vis RedEye) there's no earthly reason for them to underplay their hand to such an extent. Now if you're saying it's possible to wring 850HP out of the setup (cam, tune, pulley) without it being an instant grenade, maybe, but serious long shot. If the Low-balling was in the range of 3-5% it would be far more believable.

That is a pretty stupid statement. Without the boost they are not getting 850 hp and the boost provider supercharger takes 90 hp friction loss out of the system. What they did is they ran a computer simulation with the boost value from the supercharger embedded into the scenario, and then they calculated the theoretical power output hp at the crank (Not whp). While doing the simulation they did not check the box and input the friction values for anything including the supercharger (assume floss=0). Its all theoretical and doesn’t apply to the real world. You can claim the same thing for every boosted car in the world. Ford should fire his ass

What do you think GM should do with the person who led the latest Camaro development team? You know, the Camaro that was selling well and now after the redesign is selling quite poorly?

Yeah Chevy said the same thing about the ZR1. 850hp but only 750 actual crank HP. Not sure why they make these kind of statements.

Because the world is full of ignoramus like that youtuber who has never read a book on engine design nor even a one-pager WIKI on the subject of principles of forced induction. Ford marketing is depending on the "oh my gahd, 850HP" to sway purchase decisions. It's no different than the "this car can do 2.98s 0-60 but this other one can only manage a 3.2" as a purchase criteria.
