I keep coming back to the Porsche spec cup 2s and rotate them they will likely heat cycle out before the tread is gone. I should be able to get 8 /10 days with the last few probably being slow.

At their peak they seem faster than pretty much anything else but the peak is short.

I heat cycled my R spec cup 2 rears after 8-9 days, with 50% tread left so no need to pay the premium for better wear on the rear Porsche imho. The fronts however don’t seem to make it through the 5th day ever and the Porsche spec premium cost would be worth it to get 3.5 more days possibly.

It does suck when the car gets real slippery On heat cycled tires so it depends on the math and effort. My dealer only charges $15 to mount tires and I have a full spare set of cf wheels. I have always found front cup 2 a little older (no noticeable loss of grip) for $200-$225 or better with eBay deals and rebates. That’s hard to past still when best I can do on Porsche spec is 100% more money. The ford fronts grip fantastic all the way to chording on the 5th day ime.

I got 17 heat cycles on my first set of Pirelli Ferrari Challenge slicks before they corded. I'll post how many I get on the current set too.
That's impressive. I must be rough on tires. I got 4. Boo

Are you running the 315s? Do you find them balloon-y?

They are 305/690/19's. The two tracks I primarily drive on have been repaved within the past 3 years, and one is 2.5 miles and the other a little over 2. And it's usually not as hot here as it is in Texas, Georgia, or Virginia. Those may be factors on the longevity for me, but not sure.
They don't feel balloony so far as I can tell compared to the OEM tires, and I run them at a little higher pressure than normal to try to get a little more use out of them, as I'm not competitive in my TT class, so no reason to wring them out.

I was going to say the same thing....I have been getting 3 days (12-15 heat cycles) out of my Goodyear F1 SC 3R tires. I think the one significant variable that is missing here is driving style and ability level. I would argue I'm on the lower side of ability (which makes me overdrive tires and rely too much on mechanical grip from time to time) but that's an important factor when considering tire life. Another tricky element is alignment settings; when people mention they are cording their tires it's tough to interpret without seeing the remaining tire wear and what cords are showing. Alignments have a huge impact on all of these things

ahh. Those are a good bit shorter than the 705mm 315s. Still quite tall, tho. Wonder how they feel compared to a 30 series R7. COTA is especially rough on tires. In full attack mode, I can shred a set in a day there. It's insane. Where are you getting 305s? I only ever see the 275 and 315s.

This is very true. I've watched the same tire last a day with one driver vs. 7 days on the same track and car, but with different drivers. For example, an RE-71R lasts a good while until you get them super hot, and then you can ruin them in a hurry.

The 305's are leftovers from Ferrari Challenge. They are no longer running that size, but I was able to find some from gttrackdays mentioned above. I wonder if the smaller 275/675/19 size would be an option.

I’ve had great luck with these late 2015 production year cup 2 tires. Already have 6 rear spares, need more fronts though (too bad can’t run 315 on the front). Great deal for $185 a tire shipped imho:
