I don't know anything about towing and how the ratings for towing capacity works, but do you think you could tow your Mustang with a 4Runner? I think they use the same engine and the 4Runner has a towing capacity of ~5,000 lbs which is a bit similar to the Tacoma

I have a 21 TRD Venture 4runner (white) also. It does not tow as well as the Tacoma due to the shorter wheelbase and 5 speed automatic. But it will get the job done even though my setup would be a few hundred pounds over 5,000. I have not towed with the 21 venture, but previously had a 2016 SR5 (blue) and towed this car and trailer numerous times. 21 and 16 are the same with respect to towing. It towed fine locally, but I wouldn't do a great distance with it. Just make sure you have a good trailer brake controler. I run a Red Arc unit on the Tacoma and it's awesome. It would be the exact same install on the 4Runner. The 4runner will squat a bunch as the tongue load is lighter than tacoma. Just make sure you have your weight distributed on the trailer appropriately.

So to recap the 4runner will tow an S550 on an aluminum trailer well. The Tacoma is superior in every way though.

4runner is a 4.0 with 5spd AT, 5000lbs towing, Tacoma is 3.5 with 6spd AT, 6400lb towing.

My wife had a limited for several years, it was bullet proof. Was a great suv. My biggest complaint was at our elevation, above a mile, it was a little under powered. The transmission programming was off for up here to. Do you have any issue’s with your car scraping loading on that trailer?

The pic of my 21 was on top of Pikes Peak. Man that thing was wheezing!!!! If i lived at elevation, id def need something with factory turbo(s). Nope no scraping getting on and off the trailer. Trailer has a dovetail and ramps are really long.
