Any suggestions from you SoCal guys? My car is black and II don't want to take it to your average car wash and I really don't want to spend so much personal time detailing it myself.

I would definitely get a recommendation for a regular detailer (esp for a black car) for hand washes, etc. Can get a little pricey but your car deserves it :) I went to a touchless wash for a year, but it was actually touched to death! It is impossible to get all the little scratches out (and they show on my Ruby Red) but my (now regular) mobile detailer has improved its appearance tremendously.

The best way to deal with a black car is yourself, but always remember to do it properly. Touch less car wash use recycled water and the soap they use are usually very very strong and not healthy for your paint. It's really not too hard to keep up a black car looking its best as long as you know some proper method and good regiment. I learned a ton being a member on autogeek and meguiar online. YouTube videos are your best friend too. Start with 2 bucket wash method and a really good wax or sealant. Black cars are not what bring out the swirls, our bad washing technic does.

It makes me cringe every time I hear somebody wants to take their car to a car wash, please don't!

Either get it professionally washed (basic washes are not too expensive)

or....

Wash it yourself! 2 bucket method man (3 recommended for washing wheels). I wash my car weekly (or at least try too) and it literally feels like therapy doing it yourself. You spend too much money on the car to let it get scratched up at a car wash.

The only time you will need to detail it yourself is every few months to clay bar and wax/seal the car, other than that you can wash the car in an hour or less.

I have opticoat on my car so i'm not afraid of them touchless car wash. there's a chevron near my work in baldwin park that offers touchless. I'm just waiting on a deal to buy my own DI system at home..
