This was my best run from Saturday. My car definitely has 10s in it, but, I am struggling to get the power down consistently. I was able to get several good 1st gear hooks and cut a 1.7 60ft but as soon as second gear hits I loose it traction wise- enough to totally kill the run because I have to correct the vehicle direction. When I sink in to 2nd I can hold the power (feels a little squirrely toward 6500-7500 but it goes to third by then). I know the will run faster than a stick, I just wanted to see techniques for managing the hard 1st to 2nd shift safely without losing ET. Do I try to pedal the shift or short shift it?

TLDR: Car has the traction to cut 1.7 60' but breaks them totally loose when hitting second and is hard to regain quickly. Advice?

275/40/17 MT ET Street R- tire can hold the grip for launch really well- I cut a 1.7 60 before nearly spinning out when it banged 2nd.

Need some more heat on them tires, assuming they are a DR.
Yessir. How long to burn out for? I didn't hold it too long, about 4 seconds. MT ET Street Rs

1st gear or 2nd? if youre doing 1st then thats your problem. You should start burnout in 1st, then shift to 2nd and hold it around 5-6k rpm for 5-7 seconds. Then releasing brakes and letting it roll forward.

Just replayed my run, definitely only in second for a second or so. Thank you. It feels like I burnout forever but it's only actually a fraction of the time when I rewatch my runs.

Lund can soften up the shifts so it doesn't smash the tire so hard, but at the end of the day it's a lot of power, tires, and suspension work likely. I'm currently fighting getting my car to hook at the launch and shifts with more tire than you have.

If this is your first time out. Id make a second trip and get more data. Might just have been shitty track prep. Also log your passes to see whats going on.

Man I would try a 305/45/17 R. The taller/wider tire will kill some gear while providing more rubber on the ground. Maybe see if you can borrow a set at the track for a pass and see if that’s not the answer

I vote for bad track prep or wrong tire pressure. The tires should have 18-20 psi on them hot. You don't need a long burnout unless it is really cold out. Are you running a stall? I do my burnouts in 1st gear and I have 3.73 gears so a 2nd gear burnout is not needed. Get back to the track and play around some more. Also make sure you line up in the groove.
