So I've never really been a fan of the 3:31 gearing in my car, they just feel way to long, especially for a car thats powerband lives higher up in the RPMS. That said, most people seem to say in boosted mustangs you want the longer gearing, and when I'm on the go pedal taking it all the way up it's not to bad, however day to day driving just seems lack luster. Even if I want to do a little stab, I gotta wind it up to 4k rpms or there about before I can really feel the boost. After that it's more or less fine, but for my driving style, I don't get to feel it often enough. Do you guys think it would be worth the effort/cost to put some 3:55s out back? Is that something I'll notice? I figure it'll spin up a bit quicker and I'll be going a little slower when I feel the boost hit. Or is it not gonna be enough of a change to really notice and I'd be better off just selling the Paxton kit and getting a PD blower for my driving style? I feel like the longer gearing and PD blowers would work out better than longer gears and a centri car for day to day fun.

It's only a 7% change, doubtful you'd really notice it.

What is your current setup, fuel type and power level? I like my 3.31 with the whipple on pump gas, but E85 I feel it'd be much easier to get down the street with 3.15s. If you have room, I'd pulley down and max out what you have first. A Centri at 14-15lbs should have plenty of mid range pop.

15 manual, Paxton 2200sl with 3.6 pulley, stainless power free flowing headers, 2018 IM on pump 93. Last time I dynoed the car it hit 600whp on the nose, but it had the stock headers and a little fueling issue that probably killed some up top power. The fueling issue has been corrected and headers added since then, so I would guess between 630-650 maybe. I do plan on doing e85 in the future and dropping down to a 3.4 pulley so maybe that'll help out. Like I said the I feel like the PD does a bit better with the longer gearing. I feel like 3:73 would be to short, and like the previous poster said, 3:55 isn't to much of a change.

331s are good for your setup. When you make more power you'll enjoy them more, so not worth switching gearing. Maybe consider a torque booster with a 10 psi spring in the wastegate. You can run a 3.33 pulley making the car feel nice and snappy compared to the 3.6

Only drawback is you overspin the blower a bit at the high rpms.

i have the 3:15 gears, run a 275 60 15 MT Drag radial pro rear tire with the v3 pullied at 3.33 on E85 and it rips. It does need to be around 3500rpm to have that immediate hit you want but that's also the nature of a motor that revs like the coyotes do. I think maybe a convertor would give you what your looking for as opposed to gears or drop to the 3.33 pulley. I think you'll need to be on E with the 3.33 as well.

Change the converter. I had a circle D 4C in the Paxton powered 15 and it would cut 1.4 sixties at 4100 pound race weight.

Yeah, the 3:33 pulley is what I'd want, but I'm worried about over spinning the blower to much. Don't wanna hurt the thing...

E85 and a 3.55 pumpkin will feel really good. Not to say whipple won’t feel as good or better depending on your use but it’s a decent chunk out of pocket for that swap.

Yeah it is. I was hoping more people would tell me the 3:55s would give me what I was looking for! Haha. Probably wouldn't be able to swing it this year, but maybe next year. I'd sell the Paxton kit and just put that money towards a Whipple or VMP. I guess I can put it on e85 and go down on pulleys and see what that is like and go from there.

You can get a complete differential used with 3.55 or 3.73 for $200 to $300. How much is it going to cost for your other options?
