It will take a LOT of power to exceed 143 mph in the quarter. If you are comfortable with 7800 RPM shift points, you may not need 7th.

I will look forward to seeing the OPs car run. A 945 WHP GT 500 barely does it.

OP... if you are making 900whp you will be trapping closer to 150 and you MUST have 3.15's to stay out of 7th gear. My car has gone 147 mph on the 850hp tune and im at the top of 6th gear going through the traps with 3.15 gears. Leaving in 2nd gear is fine.

3.31 rear gear hitting traps in 6th around 7700. Car is about 950 rwhp.

3.31 is the gear for 8.80 or slower.

Just proof that 144mph and higher is possible with less than 950rwhp that brucelinc said might not be possible.

I just swapped out my 3.55s for 3.15 in my 18. It made a huge difference with driveability and traction. With 3.55 it bucked and had some shitty downshifts. It all went away with 3.15. 3.55s were blazing my et streets ss at 80+ mph as well. Every shift would blow them off.

Side convo- 700whp averages 140-142 mph with edelbrock 2650 power curve. Beefcakes YouTube has a 710whp car run 9.90s without stall.
