no, it’s not adaptive…

and yes adaptive cruise is awesome…

Nope. Tell that to the buttheads that still cut in front of me when I'm following at the closest setting it allows.
Buttheads will be buttheads, same as tailgaters. If you are following a safe distance above jogging speed, there is enough room for another car between. It makes no sense to me to follow close enough to prevent another car from squeezing in at the expense of my safety.

A safe following distance (which includes more space if you have a tailgater on you) also means more distance between you or the car in front of you when the butthead cuts in. So, when the day comes that the car in front has to slam on their brakes right after butthead cuts in, you don't need to hit your brakes so hard you get rearended, even with a tailgater behind you.

Right, which often renders it all but useless to me. Also, with a manual, adaptive cruise is often more trouble than it's worth. The conditions have to be just right to make it worthwhile.
