Hello everyone, for a little background to my mustang journey, i've been a long time lurker and joined the site way back when the anticipation as building for the reveal of the 2015 Mustang and the new S550 platform. I was there for all the renders and hype and build up surrounding the event. At the time I was driving a 2012 Ford Focus, but was desperate to get into a mustang. I loved the 2013-2014 body style, and determined I couldn't afford a new S550 when they were released, so I picked up a 2014 Ingot Silver V6 with the intention of trading up when I got out of college and had a better job. This is where my love for the mustang started, after seeing the aftermarket support, the ability to make it your own through modding, and the community I was hooked. My V6 was a base, so I changed pretty much everything to make it what I wanted. Heres a look at her before I got rid of her:

So, I graduated college and got a job in my career field but I had a good bit of debt and didn't want to increase that further by getting a new S550. So I made a plan to eliminate my car loan and student loan debt before trading up. It took 4 years of working in the Software industry, but I was able to contain my desire for a new car and stick to the plan. It got very hard this year, because they released Grabber Lime as a color and then the desire was intensified by the news that it was only going to be a single model year color. So, after paying off my debt and feeling confident with my finances, as well as the incredible deals going on at the time I started hunting for my perfect spec. I settled with my first Mustang, not getting my preferred color as well as any of the options I wanted, so this time it was going to be exactly what I wanted or nothing at all. So I present to you my new car:

My goal with this car is to make it a fun daily driver, and I have a long list of mods that i'm ready to start crossing off. I'll be posting off as i'm able to install more and more things to transform her into my vision with this beautiful Lime Green car.

    Congrats! Nice car.
The aftermarket support and the Mustang community is what brought me back to my second Mustang as well. :like:

Yeah, I think its very unique for the car the kind of following it has. Even compared to other big names in the car world, it just feels like Mustang is on its own level. Plus, I grew up in a Ford family. My dad was a Ford mechanic for 20+ years, so I may be a little biased.

Really hoping to make it out to the American Muscle show next year.

Looking forward to following this build thread. Great backstory, too. I have to say, the '13/'14 S197 is right up there in terms of my favourite Mustangs bodystyle, along with the '18+. The V6 was a nice engine, too.

The 13/14 body style is really great. I think if you had that body style with the interior of an S550, you'd have one killer mustang. But I love the aggressive evolution of the 18+ in terms of the headlights and the front end..

My first mod was something simple, a tint kit for the various lights on the car via the Anchor Room Light Tint kit from CJ Pony Parts.

The kit came with tint for the headlights in two forms: either the entire headlight, or just a corner piece to cover the amber lights. I chose to go with just the corner piece as I like the design of the light and the rest is pretty dark as is. The other lights tinted were: rear side markers, mirror turn signals, 3rd brake light, roof brake light and the two red pieces on the diffuser above the exhaust tips. It also came with tail light tint, but i'm undecided if I want to use the tint or go a different route on the tail lights so i've held off on that for now. Heres a couple before pictures:

Here are some after photos, featuring some with gloomy lighting:

So finally getting some parts in, not sure when i'll have access to tools to install all of them but I was able to get these smoked taillight covers from i-5 Autohaus. I had some tint but wanted it to be a darker "blackout" look rather than the tinted-red look you get with standard tint. About as easy to install as it gets, just double-sided tape. The covers wrap the edges of the lights and hug them pretty tightly, giving me more confidence they won't go anywhere. Have held up fine at 70mph so far. Car is a bit dirty, but these are the best pics I can do for now till I have access to a wash.

And here is a comparison of light output. Left is without the covers, the right is with the covers. Still able to easily see much of the light.

Next up on the mod list was a PP2 style splitter from Ikon Motorsports. I bought through eBay. I think the PP2 is one of the best factory style mustangs ever and think if you're going for a clean build thats the route to go, so i'll be taking a few elements from that car on my own. Due to not having the performance pack 1 splitter or bellypan, you have to sit the splitter about an inch further in than you'd see on the OEM PP2 for the holes to work. You also have to drill new holes. Love the more aggressive look.

Also, gonna stop using the filtered photos for this thread so people can get a more realistic look at the grabber lime color. Find filtered photos at the instagram in my signature if you're interested.

Heres what I mean with the "sitting about an inch further in"

Got some Drake Muscle side and rear splitters from CJ Pony Parts installed this weekend. Compliments the PP2 front splitter really nicely and gives the appearance of sitting lower without lowering.

Outside is coming along nicely, only a few changes left I want to do on the exterior, then onto interior, wheels and exhaust! 20200523_134804.jpg 20200523_135050.jpg 20200523_134843.jpg
