I was thinking the same thing. Moving from the stock setup, to 19x10 squared with SuperCar3’s completely changed the car along with camber and Steeda springs.
What size tires go on the 19x10 wheels? Any spacers required?

Generally 285 but 275 will fit too. If you're with usaa 30pct off supercar 3 this month. 900 a set.

No spacers.

285/35/19 - the Apex wheels are 10 lbs lighter a wheel and priced right. Offset is perfect and designed for S550 with no spacers. Easiest track mod ever. :-)

305 square or 305F/315R, more tire the better. Then it's the real deal.

He’s 10 track days in 3 years with the S550.
305’s are an entire other animal, not the easiest to accomplish.
If I keep the S550 I’ll probably do the extended studs and move to that setup.
The 19x10’s squared is easy to accomplish for someone that doesn’t plan on tracking their car every other weekend.

Great Thread OP; I believe you will have a lot of folks waiting to see your impressions on back to back driving comparisons... myself included.
I am currently contemplating a 718 GT4 as well. No room for both the GT350 and a GT4, so I will have to pick one. Currently have a Cayman 718 and the GT4 better be WAAAAAAAYYY better for me to give up the Flat-Planed Crank exhaust note in my Shelby.
Keep up posted...!!!!!!!!!

If I supply the wheels and tires, can I get some laps in your car(s)?

Wow! So you have two somewhat similar cars. How is your Cayman configured?
Mine has the sport exhaust and to tell the truth, the exhaust note sounds pretty good to me. Just the right amount of grumble IMO. My Mustang GT has the active exhaust, in sport or track mode I think it’s obnoxiously loud. When I run it at the track, I go Track mode then manually switch the exhaust to normal mode. I‘m planning on booking a time at at the Porsche Experience center to drive a 718 GTS or GT4. Then I‘ll be in a better position to comment on the 2.5L vs 4.0L Cayman.

Driver experience may play a role too. I’m super comfortable in the Mustang. Will be first time on the track with the Porsche.
Without a doubt, the BIGGEST factor in play on a road course.

I learned this many years ago:
"A fast driver in a slow car is (almost) always faster than a slow driver in a fast car."

Spend some time on track with experienced Scec Miata guys and you may find yourself humbled.

BTW, I did it the other way around, i.e., about 15 years tracking Porsches before I switched to the Mustang. All fun.

In for the info.

I have a serious Jones for a GTS 4.0, it's way up on the list. However, the lesser-engined Cayman is intriguing as well, and I'm curious about this comparison. I'm thinking smaller and lighter are the way to go on the next fun car.

My track car for about 15 years was a '72 911 (still have it). About 2350 lbs wet. Mine is modified with a '84 3.2L engine, approx 240 HP. No power steering, brakes, obviously no driver aids of any kind. It is an absolute blast on track. You may want to consider a Lotus Elise as well. Lightness is good!

Thank you!
I had to go with the 2.5L Turbo. wanted that torque to come on fast at corner exits onto the straights. Lots of crap on the net about the engine sound. I think it sounds really good with the sport exhaust.
Tires:
Mustang - Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S - 285/40 rear, 255/40 front
Boxster - Pirelli P Zero - 265/40 rear, 235/40 Front
Is pirelli pzeros a totally different beast once on a porsche?
