I've experimented with the flight control settings, and although it works well to lower the power, it gives the car a hesitation feeling. I've found the car runs at it best with advance trac turned off and just pedaling the gas to control wheel spin.

I see, so indeed as 808 mentioned, just feel the car and pedal it out like old school :). I do know all stock the car certainly produced a better E/T with everything turned off and just feeling the track/driving/controlling wheel spin with the right foot. Great......the initial install and probably next couple of months with the stock size Nitto's and Whipple are going to be pointless to try and get frisky with below 50-60mph i'm sure, but a problem that I will gladly take.

So after receiving/unpacking and doing inventory on the kit as per the box sticker, I noticed that the stock pulley supplied with the GEN 1 kit is a 3.750. From what I have gathered this will be around 9-10 psi (car is all stock). Being as I only have access to 91 Octane, i'm thinking about ordering the 4.0 pulley simply because I do not want to risk any issues on pure 91, or am I over reacting? In previous builds (turbo LS cars) it seemed like 9-10 psi was pushing it on 91, didn't really leave much room for error as far as fuel quality, hot summer days, ect. That and I have stock size 255 Nittos' out back which most likely will not put the power down anyhow. What are your thoughts?

I started a thread awhile back called "Before you Dyno a Whipple" where I posted the data log files from my dyno run on a slightly tweaked stage 2 whipple tune. With 3.625 pulley and 93 octane (no octane booster) car made 12.5-13 psi with zero knock and adding about 20 degrees of timing. I have not had any engine issues with 11k boosted miles on the odometer. No boost a pump; just stock stage 2 whipple with 72 lb injectors

I will take a peek at that thread, thank you for the information! I guess what I need to remember is what applies to one does not apply to all, especially on boosted applications. These seem to be able to get away with more timing and boost on pump gas than what I am used to tuning/building. I plan on using the supplied Whipple cal for the near future, and just enjoy the car for a while before starting to suck the power and E/T out of it.

You will be fine with the pulley that came with the kit, especially if running the Whipple tune.

Hang on and make sure your on a straight away and the surface temps are well above 50F before you stomp that pedal to the floor in D the first time. The down shift at 50-60mph going from 6th to 2nd with 11psi on my 2300 TVS is violent. Your larger displacement setup may even be a bigger jolt. Guarantee either way It'll make your scrotum shrivel even when you think your ready for it the first time you do it and for many times thereafter. I'm only making 627 on my setup and I am on 305's (NItto G2 not the best but...better than some).

Learn the car. It will be a whole new critter. Enjoy.

The S550 is a very refined car and doesn't give as much feedback as some of the older mustangs. they feel slower than they actually are and with 600+ to the tire, it can sneak up on you quick. I see it isn't your first built car so you'll probably be fine but I can say my GT500 at 140 and my S550 at 140 are 2 completely different feelings haha

3.75 and 91 will result in some knockr but not too bad, maybe 2-3 degrees depending on load and IAT.

So true. My boosted s197 feels more controlled when its spinning hard. The whipple s550 is a different beast. Sometimes it goes straight other times it just wants to come around fast. I started with MT sport comps 305s their summer tire, its worthless. Blows them off at will with any throttle. Hell when I was just NA and tuned a good trans kickdown would blow them off. I dont dare try a 60 mph 6th to 2nd one! Lol. Learning to use the paddles all the time allows me to control tire spin much better. 91 octane will be fine. Remember this tune is rated for 50 states. I have run the whipple tune for a year now. No issues or complaints. Your going to love this kit.

Sounds great guys! Thank you for the advice! Looking forward to get under way with the OPG and Kit install within a few weeks, sounds like it will be everything I had hoped it would be. The Kit appears well engineered for sure, very nice components.

Be smart and make sure your motor is warmed up to normal operating temperatures before you start making boost.Just Saying!

Agreed. Being a technician by trade, I have always been easy on my equipment. Being i'm pretty much a straight line guy, the most this setup will ever see is a 1/4 pull at a time, which is almost always followed by a warm up drive to the strip/staging lane waiting. Not really into back to back bonzai runs or top speed runs personally. A few leisurely passing maneuvers and some Friday night test and tunes will be all I have planned, after I get enough tire under it to do any good, perhaps some CV shafts for peace of mind.

Any suggestions on oil pump gears? I'm really leaning towards the MMR's at this point. I know it's not 'necessary' for the Whipple kit, but am going to do it for peace of mind.
