My new Beith steering wheel delivered yesterday just in time. The blue stitching matches the seat stitching perfectly

Jeebus. Shelby could learn a lot from what you've done to that car!

Got a little play time in this morning before leaving for work.

I was going to play it safe and not attempt to install the PBD/LMT supercharger lid before Mustang Week. My reservation was, if something went wrong, would I have enough time to resolve it before MW? Well, the urge to install was too great, lol.

Once again I am greatly impressed with my tech at SA. I found zero missing, or out of place hardware when taking the car apart today. I had to take the entire underbelly out to drain the SC coolant, and as you can see, everything to get the stock SC lid off. No hardware was missing, and every clip, nut, bolt was in it's proper home. If you have ever done any of this, you know how much different size hardware there is under there. This is reassuring, and makes my OCD heart feel a lot better about someone else working on my car.

Case in point, there is a wiring harness protector on the back side of the engine that has to be removed to allow the SC lid to come off. Not only was it not broken, but both nuts were reinstalled. I am sure that most techs would not bother reinstalling the bottom nut, or just snap the plastic off, knowing most owners would never know.

Any who, back on topic...

It sure felt good to wrench again, and I cant wait to spend the next 4-5 days installing my goodies.

This is how I left it until tomorrow. I installed the NPT boost fitting into the cover after I torqued down the lid. Sitting until tomorrow, and all day tomorrow while I finish up under the hood and install the boost gauge, should allow the sealant on the fitting to completely dry. With a little luck I will get to fire her back up tomorrow evening  .

Lol!

Funny thing is the service manual says to remove the hood entirely, because you have to release the hood strut when taking the strut tower brace off. I wonder how many people would just do that, instead of implementing some common sense? I was also able to swap the lid without having to disconnect the heater hoses from the firewall . Improvising is always a part of the job!

When I took my STB off I held the hood up with a broom handle on one side and a piece of plastic conduit on the other side, each offering support at the hood pins above. Reservoir tank and airbox were unbolted so that I could clean everything after the car sat in the railyard for a while in Missouri.

I remember that fiasco! I have my car wash brush handle positioned in the middle of the hood because I need to climb into the engine bay (massive 5’5” body) to get the lid on and off. Especially helpful getting to that nut I mentioned on the wiring harness bracket bolted to the transmission housing. With one on each side I surely would have kicked one, causing a loud noise, quite a few cuss words, and a headache.

Well, I finished installing the PBD/LMT lid, Whipple intercooler block, and Whipple belt tensioner tokay. I also installed my new coil covers, and master cylinder cover.

While working on it today, I heard something drop into the engine bay. I quickly figured out it was one of the intercooler coolant line clamps. I spent a least 1 hour looking for that stupid thing. Lift up, lift down, liftup, lift down, and I’ll be god dammed, I could not find it to save my life. Grabbed a spare from my pile of mustang parts I have lying around and moved on.

After I buttoned up the install of the lid, I started up the car to check for leaks, and all was good. I started the car a number of time to bleed the intercooler coolant system. I was able to do the job without having to drain the engine coolant system, which was nice.

I then went in to get the boost gauge installed while the strut tower brace was still off. Got everything run and wired. Then went to start the car to check for boost leaks. Gave the car a few blips of the pedal to test the boost gauge, and all went as planned. Then, I heard an unfamiliar sound…… walked around the drivers door and quickly realized what was happening. The freaking hose clamp that I couldn’t find earlier was wedged between the crank pulley and the tensioner, eating the serpentine belt like it was it‘s job! Mother …………!

I then made an emergency call to my local parts genius to see what he could do to get me a new one, pronto. Looks like the closest one is in Detroit….. mother ……………! Well, at least I finally figured out where the stupid clamp went, and at least it didn’t happen while at Mustang Week.
