I know that Anderson Composite requires a heat shield on the underside of the hood. Surprised it's not installed yet. Maybe it will be done prior to delivery.

No heat shield gets installed on this hood. I also do not think the hood is made by Anderson, but I am not positive.

Hope I don't get my 2022 kit before the car 🤞

I guess I should have given more of a heads up. I was gone by the time you responded. I sure would have sent pics of if they allowed it. I may go back by just to see later in the week.

It’s all good. I kinda doubt they would allow such a thing anyway.

This is amazing!

Question for anyone who knows or can help me..
I reached out to Shelby regarding a widebody build on the new GT500 and heard nothing back. How long does it normally take for someone to get back?

Thank you

Call back and ask for Chris Ruby, he’s the one you wanna talk to. It may take a little time, but he will call you.

After some discussion about this, it seems the reason SA can use this hood without a heat shield is because it is dry carbon, and not the traditional wet carbon. Dry carbon is a completely different process which results in a much stronger result. It uses carbon fiber that is impregnated with resin.

Wet carbon uses multiple layers of hand laid resin. This type of carbon is heavier due to the layers of resin, is not as strong, and is is prone to pre-mature aging. This is why it is recommended to use a heat shield with a wet carbon fiber hood.

I did not know that. The hood that I tried to buy was about 10 pounds heavier than the dry carbon. If you are after weight savings, its worth the extra coin.

I'll be late to saying congrats! But still....CONGRATS!

I want my Super Snake to get the wide body treatment...all in due time. Till then, I'll live vicariously through your progress 🤟😁👍

I know.... right? Not many get to have this special treatment to their cars. Jamie, i have a LAS layover later this month. Would you like me to check on your car?

Edit: I get in after business hours. Nevermind

Nope, they don't! I'll have to wait for a time to get it done...likely during the winter when I can stand not wanting to be with my Supa Snek 🐍
