Hey Guys,
While I'm all concentrating developing my RACE SPLITTER ( the Idea is nice!)
I took a break and I've decided to develop and test my JLT AIRBOX COVER.

short story.
I do Dyno everything.
I proved that JLT IS superior than OEM AIRBOX ( 22 whp but with the hood down the gain was reduce to 10-11 whp
ALL WITH TUNE OF 96 OCT ( FOR RACING).THERE IS A VIDEO .here
MAIN REASON CAME OUT TO BE HEAT SOAKING ( initially we thought it was due to the gigantic hood vents I have just above the JLT.)
before ANYONE will say " WELL YOU JUST REPLICATE THE OEM AIRBOX,'
I 'd like to point out that JLT HAS A MASSIVE 120mm tube pair with high flow filter.. and yes it is superior that a 'drop in filter'
the cover is hold in place with 4 L shape brackets where i glued a bolt so I just drop the cover on and close it with some nuts. ( see pics ) cover is Plexiglas.

I did many test with this cover. all very positive.
I share here a video where I stop at the light after car usage of 30 mins . ( urban and highway)
here the video ( this is without the gorilla tape sealing I just put it on today and you can see on the pics)
to be completely Honest for my roadcourse usage I don't think it will change a lot. the speeds we go will keep air always pretty cool. Although I will test it soon ( if this Virus allows....)
But for street usage, I'm expecting great things.

Please let me know what you think

Alex

I tried this last year. The box is too thin and too close to the engine, it let in too much heat, IAT were still much higher than stock. Until A sustained cruising speed with no traffic in front. As far as horsepower claims, I don't have dyno numbers but I have timeslips that show the stock airbox was quicker. Same day, same temps, same D/A within 1/2 hour of each other.

Interesting. I'm cruising within 3f. Wonder if it is because the material used is different? Also i have huge vents on the hood so maybe different airflow?

Glad it working so far for you. However wait until you get higher ambient temps.
