Well how would that work ? The PCV already has a check valve in it.
The oem pvc isn't designed to have a oil holding tank in it's system , there is a difference in holding back some oil mist in some crank case fumes, and another holding back drops of oil sucked up all at once. Frankly you don't want the oil to get as far up stream to be at the pcv check ball, it might stop it while closed, but once it opens back up, gulp . ah, in it goes.

The bigger problem is that there is no check valve to prevent oil from getting sucked into the intake port. Oil going back into the pcv valve wouldn't be a problem.

Most people are not four wheeling their Mustangs for the small amount of oil in the catch can to get sloshed around enough to get sucked in. Anyone tracking the car, should be emptying it before hitting a lap.

Just get the extension and then you don't even have to worry about staying on top of checking it.

If you are N/A and empty it once a month it wont be an issue. I empty mine every 2-3 weeks, there isn't ever more than a tablespoon of oil in it. If you are really worried about it, put a stainless pot scrubber in there to give the oil something to stick to.

It won’t matter if you have a screen or check valve or not. If you let the oil in your catch can fill enough that it sucks the oil in then it will pull it right through the screen and the check valve and pcv valve are designed to stop positive pressure from coming from the intake into the crank case not the other way
