That's awesome. I've seen some of his post on facebook about trying to get an 8 out of the car.

How is 8.97 seconds an 8? It's 9 minus an itty bitty smidge, like 8 inches. I guess drag racers were the original 4 inches is really 6 when talking to the ladies.

if your running a 9.0 index class, and you run an 8.97, you lose, beacuse its faster than a 9.0

thats like saying why is an 8.0 not a 9.0 when it has an 8 on it. an 8's an 8, even if its an 8.9999

if it's an 8, you have an 8 second car, thats how it works

I am tempted to say something stupid but you beat me to the punch.

Well the rest of mankind didn't forget their 4th grade math, where you learned 8 means 7.5 thru 8.49. If you want 2 significant digits then 8.0 second car is 7.95 thru 8.04.

If any engineering or scientific exercise used drag racer "math" we'd all be dead under a pile of rubble

Good for him! He got within a 1/2 second of Jessie Ringley's Ecoboost.

For those of you saying how isnt an 8sec car, it is an 8, please don’t start that nonsense. I really don’t care for the owner, weird cat, car has way too much done for the time it ran. But it did make an 8sec pass.

Interesting. So an 8 second anything "Isnt" numbers between 8.0-8.99? I just wanted to make sure we weren't using "Common Core" Math lol

My intention was that his comment was stupid.

I guess every NHRA ProStock milestone record is also incorrect then. Warren Johnson was not the first to run 180, 190, 200 or his son Kurt wasn't the first one to run in the 7's all because they didn't run deep enough into each slot. Or when Kurt was the first to run in the 6's, as illustrated here:

https://www.nhra.com/news/2020/day-history-kurt-johnson-s-698-second-pass-makes-pro-stock-history

Thank you for correcting all of drag racing history for us.

It’s like new homes. “Homes from the mid $500’s”. What does that mean? $505,000 or $550000?

as it relates to this thread. I agree this is an 8 second car but there’s a world of difference between 8.97 and 8.15. Most people I hear taking about ets typically say low, mid, or high with a number. This would be a high 8 second car.
