Are the classic model all LHD? What are Japan's foreign auto import laws like? Also, yes please to more pics!

Left hand drive is perfectly legal! The only restrictions are noise, ride height, and lights.

Mustangs are SO pricey in Japan as they charge taxes based on engine displacement Isn't it?

Very cool! I have a friend who lives outside Yokohama with a 03 Cobra he's had for at least 10 years now. When I visited Japan in 2018 and met up with him at Daikoku it felt like home followed me to Japan hearing that 4v Modular rumbling around.

What prefecture was this in? I'll have to share this thread with him and see if he knew about this, I'm sure he knows of this group.

This was us one Sunday morning, I had the Stagea Autech 260RS as a rental. Fun car to drive and quick with the RB26 but since his Cobra is nearing 500rwhp I had to really slam gears to attempt to keep up with him on the bayshore route

Back in 2000 I participated in a SVT Mustang Cobra Club in Japan. We did a beautiful drive through Hakkone and we had a great time. Its so sad Ford pulled out of Japan. My wife is from Kanagawa area near Shonandai Station in Endo.

Maybe if Ford introduced the Mustang in right-hand-drive a decade of two earlier, they might have had a hero car to attract the Japanese buyers to other models too.

I am a bit surprised that none of the gen 6 cars in the photographs seems to be right-hand-drive; I wonder if there is a reason for that @Faceme Private import restrictions for right-hand-drive cars for some obscure reason; not wanting easy opposition for the domestic market?

They did make right hand drive for the S550. To be honest the issue was cost. After taxes and anything over 3litres gets the crap taxed out of it.
