Is your 350 rotting before your very eyes, like mine?

What he said. Very disappointing to see.

Wonder if this kind of stuff happens on the new Ford GT? Noticed in the TSB that the '05-'06 Ford GT could be affected.

What ever happened to, "Quality is Job #1"? As for the new Ford GT, all Carbon Fiber, assembled at Multimatic. Wouldn't think it would be a problem but you never know.

it's cheap words spouted by marketing types to conceal the fact that quality hasn't been part of the equation for 40 years.

Ohhhh I don't know if I'd put 'em in the mancave to stare at forever. I'd probably drag them across the state behind the truck then hand 'em over to Ford. Or see what 5lbs of tannerite could do to 'em.

Where "Quality is Job 1" never made it from the marketing department to the production floor. "Quality is Job None" might be more appropriate for their paint facility; the dude or dudette who runs that line needs to be sent over to food service where slopping beans appears to be better aligned to what God intended the man to do.

I'm afraid to ask...noticed this today on the windshield-facing edge of the hood while driving our 2018. Looks eerily similar to pictures in this thread. May I assume this is the beginning of the same type of rot so many others have experienced? This car is garaged and hand-washed/waxed.

The government has probably regulated all the chemicals that would have protected the car.

Cheap metals and as little paint and sealant as possible. Why I lost interest in my 2010 lifted Ram. Front fenders started growing rust behind the paint. Guess it was a known issue with insulation holding water on the back side of the fenders. Not to mention the cloudy and flaking off clear coat. They have no interest in making cars last longer than 5 years these days.

Very true that there are paints that are much tougher and do a better job of protecting the base metal, but those paints are no longer allowed.

Agreed. We’ve been seeing that for years now. I’m curious about which manufacturers / models you all may have seen with better, more chip/scratch resistant, more protective paint. I’m hopeful for advances in paint technology, but all my cars have fallen short.

the paint tech is there. Ford just refuses to use it, and if they do use it, they do such a bad job of it since they don't care about quality just cost, they mis-use it.
