Put your political bias aside for a moment, this is not something new and the 'initiative' that started it began in the middle of the prior administration (note the date when the EPA solicited public comment, February 2019):Not surprised under this current administration. But this is just the beginning. Alot more restrictions in every area of our lives is just around the corner.. start prepping now!!!
Gotta have that power to grocery store runs or highway "pulls".I'd understand the outrage if this was over E85 or superchargers. But catless headers? Realistically, how much are you really going to see catless vs. high-flow cats? 3-4 horsepower?
The dynojet can't tell the difference, but my butt dyno canGotta have that power to grocery store runs or highway "pulls".
Do you realize going to an SC, its recommended to run no cats? Plus I'll be going E85 in the future so cats will go bye bye one way or another.I'd understand the outrage if this was over E85 or superchargers. But catless headers? there's nothing wrong with asbestos. It's a fantastic material. Would have saved some 3000 people's lives one september morning... Not handling it properly is the issue. same with gasoline, benzene, altoids, aspirin and so on.Donāt forget the houses full of asbestos..
sure, to eek out a handful more HP for the purposes of benchracing and being a "mine's bigger" twat. BFD. The blowers and turbos work just fine with modern cats.Do you realize going to an SC, its recommended to run no cats?
Stop the presses! We have to let the GT500 owners know that their factory supercharged 760 HP CATTED HEADERS are a ticking time bomb, and that they're tree-hugging *gasp* Democrats if they don't go catless!Do you realize going to an SC, its recommended to run no cats? Exactly, you have to keep the cats cool if you want them to survive, especially aftermarket. This is where the issue comes into play, most tuners just disable COT and leave it at that. That is the easy way to do it. At the end of the day 99% of performance modifications are technically in violation of EPA standards. The car manufactures get an emissions rating/approval on the OEM configuration. Once you start messing with the tune that is out the window. This whole misnomer about the fact that you should remove the cats if running a supercharger likely came from inexperienced tuners at some point. At moderate power levels (sub ~850ish) the cats should live a good long life if the calibration is on point. Way easier to put a tune together with COT disabled than to put the time into making sure thatās all set up properly.
We have a full weight widebody Redeye running 9.28 @ 147 through the complete stock exhaust (on E85). Thatās easy 8 second power at Mustang weight. Tell me again why you need to remove the cats from a street car??
