Is the top speed of the v8 electronically limited?

I know this is probably answered somewhere else, but since I have a thread, if you take the limiter off, does that void warranty? In Canada...

Technically, any time an owner flashes the computer the manufacturer can void the warranty.

But unless there's major engine/drive train damage, I'm sure most don't.

I noticed that the two of you with different results (140 vs 155) have different model year cars. That could possibly make the difference. The other, more likely thing, is that ford sets the limiter according to the speed rating of the tires the car came with for liability reasons.

*Edit* Come to think of it, rear end gearing might be a factor too. Not because the engine would necessarily reach redline, but because the DRIVESHAFT might exceed its designed rpm in cars with numerically higher rear gearing. We all know how many problems these cars have with the driveshafts...

That vert is a non PP regular GT.

Turned just .83 g on A/S tires.

Wouldn't a stock configuration GT start hitting an impossible drag barrier at around 170mph? How much horsepower would it take to push this car past 170 with all the drag? I'd think 6th gear would be completely useless without FI.

It shouldn't. My guess is without the limiter it should keep going atleast match my old stock fifth gen ls3 camaro which hit 174 mph. And that car was a brick in aerodynamics, lower hp but higher torque.

LMAO, just for shit and giggles this is not real but I was playing Froza 6 after getting my Xbox One and I had a PP that would top out at 170 where an auto 3.15 would hit 175. Auto with 3.73 rear end would hit 175 too but actually takes much longer. Something about torque and power rolling off at higher rpm. The PP topped out earlier due to extra tall 6th gear to save gas.
After all it's a game.
