Got my first rock chips on the hood after a 12 hour road trip. I made sure to follow far back to try and avoid them.

I got a chip on the hood within a few weeks of delivery 😩
It sucks. I’ve been using Dr color chip for past couple of years on my 06 GT which works well. Used it on my 21 and match is perfect on Velocity blue.

Yes very thin. Domestic paints are the worst well I take that back Tesla's are worse than domestics.

Dr. Colorchip and then PPF on the entire front clip.

The paint is not durable at all. These cars are disposable tin cans with water colors for pigmentation and hairspray as a clear coat.

I second this. Dr color chip took care if my 1k miles rock chips. Antimatter blue, and im the only one who ever seems to be able to spot the repair.

I have to admit I'm in a similar boat. I have a small chip up on the passenger side a pillar. There's a couple of small chips in the hood but the hood is being replaced with a GT500 Hood so no big deal.

I'm kind of disappointed by this considering my Mercedes C-Class had an extra layer of armor for paint. I'm talking hail eating layers of paint.

I have a ton of chips. Fortunately none on the hood. Mostly right above the windshield and the pillars. I actually have one on the deck lid if you can believe that. I think I’m just lazy and haven’t even started trying to fix them yet. I am 90% highway driving so it was inevitable.

You do realize it’s not the thickness of the paint but the clear coat. It is what it is so protection is key. PPF is required, ceramic is optional.

Well you have a Mustang not a Mercedes so get some PPF on those “A” pillars. I did this time and it well worth the extra $100.

My chip is on the hood. I used dr color chip before applying ceramic coating. I forget it’s there unless I’m right on top of it.

Yes, the paint on ALL S550's sucks - tons of threads on here about it. Don't wash it, you'll end up with paint runs. Surely don't dry it, you'll rub the remaining paint right off the body.

Just stick it in the garage and stare at it, that seems to be what most S550 owners do on here... 🤪
