As the title asks, wondering how the MPG is calculated.
I’m an old guy and prefer MPG to litres per 100KM when viewing my gauges.
Thanks

in the vehicle options menu you can change it to MPG from L/100km. You can google the calculation and convert it.

Never thought of that.
I checked the current readings and they were 20.8 mpg and 11.2 litres/ 100kms. Doing the math it’s 20.8 miles for a US gallon.
That converts to 24.97 miles for an imperial gallon.
Thanks for the tip!

I’ve got as good as 8.3 highway, and that’s with 3.73s. A friend with a 19 GT has got in the 7s.

Best I've got is 8.7L/100km from Toronto to London on the 401 with some traffic in Milton on the weekend.

At first I doubted that anyone could beat the rated highway fuel economy. Why would the manufacturer publish numbers poorer than what could be attained in real life driving? You would expect the advertised numbers to be difficult to attain. After reading the 5 cycle testing procedure I see how you could get better fuel consumption than the rated highway numbers if you drive conservatively for a long period of time along the lines of the open highway and rural road driving test (below).

If I read this testing guideline correctly the advertised Highway fuel consumption is a combination of the results from at least 2 different tests:

Highway test simulates open highway and rural road driving

The highway test simulates a mixture of open highway and rural road driving in the following ways:
  • It uses an average speed of 78 km/h and a top speed of 97 km/h.
  • It does not include any stops.
  • The test begins from a hot engine start.
High speed/quick acceleration test
The high speed/quick acceleration test averages 78 km/h and reaches a top speed of 129 km/h. Four stops are included and brisk acceleration is added at a rate of 13.6 km/h per second. The engine begins warm and air conditioning is not used.
