The cover will stay on just fine without the 4 hold down fasteners - even at 100+ MPH, lol. I leave them out so I can just pull the battery cover off in 3 seconds if I need to get at the battery.
Same here. After reading about how easy it is to lose them, I carefully removed them, bagged and tagged them, and put the baggie in a safe place. That was 4+ years ago and the cover hasn't budged.

Not a great idea to connect directly to the battery posts, that is bypassing the battery management sensors and playing havoc with the battery management system
Below are pictures of the correct way to do it
Notice that the + is fused and that I’m using sae connectors with everything routed correctly
Not a good idea either to have unfused charger wiring to the battery

Hooked up the battery charger cables the way you suggested.
Works great, no worries about the cables slipping off. If I wish to have the cables to remain over the summer months, where would I route 15 inch cable?

My Bullitt came with the battery cover, think the other poster must have been referring to the motor cover.

These actually fit? I grabbed some from a different manufacturer and they were true garbage. If these worked good for you, i’d grab some myself 🤞🏻
Yes they work great. And I love that I can easily remove them and remove the cover and replace as needed.

Funny, this just reminded me that mine hasn't been on the car for at least a couple of years...

Since MN winters dictate that the car sit for 4-5 months, I always remove it in the fall to make periodic battery charger hookups simpler. Must have forgotten to put it back on.

Ridiculously, yes the cover is way overpriced for sure. Then theres the shock of the 4 OEM hold down thingamabobs. Ratio of material considered, the hold downs are even more expensive 🙄 And don’t even think about the cheap chinese ones that you might come across (Ask me how i know). They don’t fit in the factory size holes. Then you try to modify them to do such…..hard brittle a$$ plastic and they simply self destruct. The cover can be held down with other types of “push pin” devices, but my OCD would never allow it 🫠
OCD is a pain isn't it! We only have 3 of the retainers on RHD models, and they didn't fit from new. Lost one somewhere on the undertray and purchased 3 new ones from Ford and received the cheap hard plastic crappy ones. Like you my OCD stops me from changing to something more suitable.

I have a connector for a trickle charger attached to the +&- terminals, and the connector is just outside of the battery cover. Makes life easier.

The extra heat on the battery in the hot summer time without the cover doesn't do the battery any good. Heat is what reduces the life of a battery. The cover was put in the design by Ford as a thermal barrier more than a beauty trim piece. The cover stays on just fine without the fasteners for those lazy types that need to remove it in 5 seconds, lol.

I would even say it’s worth it just from a visual standpoint. Under the hood of a 2018+ coyote car isn’t the prettiest thing as it is. Cover up as much of the battery, wiring, etc. as you can.

Those must have gold embedded in them… LOL…. Even the “cheapest” on eBay is a $50 part, excluding shipping which when added then brings them to $60-$70 for a piece of plastic….
