But it won't sound the same, it won't feel the same, it just wouldn't be a Mustang anymore would it, only in name and nothing else? it'll be similar to when Porsche switched from air to water-cooled

You're in college, have a '14 ST, and are concerned with buying used while equating cars and education in importance?

Time to rethink your priorities.

I'd like to think I've got my priorities set pretty well actually.

College and education comes first, then cars after that.

Bill ford was #001 fwiw

Patience man. My first car was a geo storm. I wanted that red 91 fox 5.0 so bad but couldn't afford anything about it. 4 years, school, focusing on job and all first and I bought my own 1995 gts. And it's been only uphill from there.

Build the base. School, job and family and you'll have what you need to attain anything you want.

I just bought LE #275. I never would have imagined I could do that. It's no exotic but a whole lot more than I ever thought this country boy could do. All because of above.

What SVTFreak said. I think exactly none of us were driving limited edition high performance cars in college. I had an Opel Manta, then a Ford Fiesta. It's gotten better.

I say get what you want, if you can manage the financial burden and work/school schedule. My first car was a brand new 97' Ford Escort LX "Sport." I was priveleged enough to have that bought for me. However, I wanted a Mustang bad, while I was in college, and traded in the Escort on a used 2000 GT and paid every cent of it on my own. It's my first mustang that I hope to keep forever. Was it the "smartest" decision I made...?? Probably not, but I sacrificed where necessary to have what I wanted. If you think you can be disciplined enough to buy the car of your choice, then I say go for it. Life is too short to not take advantage of opportunities that you are presented with. That's why "Leona" is sitting in my garage right now! Either way good luck and enjoy your mustang whenever she comes home!

Was #1 Bill Ford? Then who got #7? I spoke to a Ford rep when it was there and it went to someone high up in Ford if I remember correctly..

Waiting always seems to be the worst and hardest thing imaginable. It's as if you're slowly losing your sanity as everything goes on around you and you keep waiting, and waiting, and waiting.......

And waiting.

I'm not as fortunate as some of you(seems like everyone though), and won't be able to afford a new S550 unless I either.

1. Somehow acquire a higher paying job while being in college, or out of college in the next 3-4 years; and by then, Ford will probably have some stupid TT V6(I hate you CAFE) in place of the 5.0L. :tsk:

2. Be a complete and utter idiot, and trade in my '14 ST in the next 2 years, and even though I put enough down to have equity on the loan(the loan is less than what the cars worth) but I have no idea how that even works. :frusty:

Every day, I dream about a CO GT premium manual.

I would really love to have a new one that I ordered in the future, because it's so special and cool to think that the car was made for YOU and no one else, and that no one has abused the car before trading in; and that it also creates a special bond between you and the car, especially if it'd be your first Mustang.

It just seems like a shame to get a used or CPO car. I'm very passionate about cars, and I don't think it'd be as special or even cool. If I end up doing this down the road, is anyone else thinking about this? I'd hate to be the only one. Being young and in college can suck sometimes, and while 'education' is important, cars are just as important, or pretty damn close. :(

The possibility of owning one seems so far away, but I just like to think far ahead.
Every car I owned was Cpo... 20k miles or less. Never had issue or regret. Saved a ton over buying new.

If u can get a pp GT loaded for 38k new.. I would think a year later low 30s high 20s?

I'll see if I can figure it out later today. Very good chance it was a ford exec, but it wasn't bill. Hehe

I'd just want a GT Premium with premium interior and 3.55 gears. I'm hoping that they'll be in the $25-30k range this time next year at least, or with some sort of deal and, or incentives.

Patience....priorities....

I drove junk (well, except for my '79 Pace Car) until I was 28 years old and bought my first new vehicle. I also paid my way through school and graduated with my engineering degree with no debt. You're way ahead of where I was with a '14 ST.

Ever since I graduated back in 1993, I wanted to buy a new Mustang and keep it forever. Had I ordered and bought that '94 GT (now I'm dating myself), I really wonder if I would still have it today. Probably not. I still dream of buying one new (every Mustang I've owned have been used, low-mile examples), but typically reserve new car purchases to daily drivers. I just might get that new one soon, but it would sure be nice to pay off my property before I'm 50 too.....

Life's too short indeed, but it's just a car.....

Um, you're ahead of the game on everybody else if you have a 2014 ST and you're in college. I didn't buy my first new car (my current car) until about two weeks before my 30th birthday; before that, every car I'd ever owned was at least 15 years old, most often 20+ years old. Count yourself very fortunate.

I know some people say life is short.. Buy buy buy.. But that's rather irresponsible IMHO.. If u can buy used save money you Help yourself.
It's just how important it is to you in having a brand new car.

Never that important to me. As long as the car is like new condition

I've owned too many cars that have needed repairs two or three times a week to ever want to buy used again. The only time I'd buy used at this point is if it's a project car that I expect to be working on. It just gets really, really old to have to be replacing pumps and belts and hoses and suspension components every two hundred miles.

+1. You own a basically brand-new FoST, one of the fastest, best handling and most fun hot-hatches on the market today.

If you can't have enough fun in that car to not worry about buying a Mustang for the next few years, you're doing the whole car enthusiast 'thing' wrong.

Make the Mustang a goal to afford responsibly, not an obsession that you'll do foolish things to obtain.

That said, there's absolutely nothing wrong with buying used/CPO cars; where would you get that idea? In the long run, you're probably way better off buying low mileage 2 or 3 year-old cars for basically 30% off their new price.

None of that should apply to any late model or CPO car in the first 5 years of its life (or under 80k mi). Heck, most of those cars come with time left on the factory warranty, a CPO extended warranty, or both.
