well got some bulbs yesterdy from the wife and put them right in. Didn't get to take before pics, but maybe later i can do a side by side. any way the sun was setting so it wasnt as dark as i wanted it to be. But i'll take some more at a darker place, so you can get a better feel of the output . but they look real good, a good improvement over stock, i believe. Did a little research, stock bulbs come in at 4650k. cbi are 5000k up to 5500k, after they burn in alittle. The CBI wasn't revolutionary because it was the "brightest" bulb, it was revolutionary because it was the first bulb at 5,000K to match the lumen output of a 4,300K bulb.( from hidplanted.com)

I'm not very happy with the light output of the OEM '15 Mustang headlights...

Do you feel that this is a worthwhile upgrade?

Noticeable improvement?

May I ask where you purchased them...part number...and cost?

Thanks,

Randy

Let me correct a few things first. The OEM bulbs will be 4200K-4300K and produce about 3200 lumens. The Osram 66340(D3S) CBIs will generally be about 4500K initially and shift to 5000K after about 20 hours of run time. After the "break in" period they will produce around 3500 lumens.

HoustonMustang, what exactly aren't you happy with as far as output goes? CBIs aren't exactly cheap at $260 a pair for the D3S set.

Of all my recent vehicles...my new Mustang EcoBoost Premium has the poorest lighting I've experienced...fuzzy cutoff points...and the low beam range is not up to par...even the fog/driving lights offer very little additional illumination...

And yes...the CBIs are expensive...but might be worth the cost if they increase the range & add measurable brightness...

I personally think it was a worthy upgrade, I can definitely notice a difference. If you have the cash and don't mind paying for them then go for it. If not there are also cheaper options. There's always people cruising Saturday nights, I'm going to go out and find a fellow s550 and try and snap a few side by sides. As far as install the first one took me about 30 minutes, because I was looking at everything, second one about ten minutes.

How was the install? Are these essentially a plug n play bulb? I've installed many a HID kit on non-HID equipped vehicles, but have never swapped bulbs/capsules on a car that came equipped from the factory.
Install was easy, take off about 6 tabs on the wheel liner at the front and top and one back . Jack up, take off tire, take off the cross member behind the bulb housing, two 10mm bolts. Then take off the bulb cover, slide the connection down off the bulb. Then press the two metal tabs to take out the bulb, then vise virsa. Plug and play, your just swapping bulbs

I hope you adjusted the angle after putting the new bulbs in... Too many times I see people replace bulbs and forget to angle them. Nothing like being blinded by a car who's lights are aiming at the passing traffic.

Does the color match the factory fog lamps?
Nope. Fog lamps are on the upside of 6-7k

Install is easy on these as mentioned and was one of the first mods I did. I may still go one step up to the 6k Philips.

Replacing a bulb doesn't change the angle of the projector so it really shouldn't be an issue. That said, even before lowering I had to raise my lights from the stock position.
