Hi all,
I have my daughter's car seat in the Mustang and I bought a pad to put in the seat to deter any indentations being made. But, foolishly I let my wife install the seat and not myself.. I noticed that where the seat anchors at the top above the seat that the strap was pulled so tight that it created an indentation at the very top of the seat. The foam is very hard but, where the strap was it flattens out then begins the curve again. I was hoping someone experienced in the matter could help. I read where people had let an ice cube melt on the area and try to massage it but, it was to no avail. The only other thing I have not tried because I do not have the tools is to steam the area.

Thanks in advance!

Try the hot parking lot trick. I might work on the cloth seats too.

Get it good and hot inside and then massage the area. The foam actually has a memory, you just need to help it find it again.

At least that a little bit of good news! It's in the garage today but being in Texas I can get it warm in no time lol.

Good luck. I have a car that's had my youngest car seat out of it for 5 to 6 yrs now. Cushions still have imprints from the car-seat and straps to this day.

The long term fix, the preventive approach, is don't let your wife touch the car. I have had to do that

It's my fault too. I didn't even take the strap into consideration.

If it wasn't there too long, he might be good. I know when I installed the covers on my '66 they looked like ass until I let them sit in the hot summer sun for 15 min and then massaged the covers into place and pulling on the foam in just the right places.

The seat has been in there about 3-4 weeks max. I have recently relocated the car to the garage so hopefully getting it heated up will prove to be beneficial.

I used to take the seat out pretty regular to kept that from happening. Have since moved her to a booster seat now so problem gone.

I made the mistake of leaving my daughter's seat in the first 2 weeks of ownership. When I pulled it for the tint job, had 2 nice little lines where the back of the car seat pressed into the rear seatback. Most of it came out after a couple weeks and some sunshine, but I can still see it. When I put her seat back in, used the carseat mats, towels and even some 1/2" foam pipe insulation (across the ridges on the back of the car seat) to help keep it from happening again.
