This question is just out of curiosity if any has the answer. I am going to put a switch in the panel under the sensor. When I pulled it off I noticed that there was a plastic strap holding it on besides the wires plugged in the sensor. They were not there on my 2015. This is a 2019. Anyone have any thoughts why they would this before I yank it off and potentially break it.

If you haven't already removed it, the temp/humidity sensor is for the HVAC system to more or less monitor the interior temp and humidity levels so the HVAC module can adjust the temp/mode/recirc doors and trigger the compressor clutch to keep it around the desired temperature.

I know that part I was curious if anyone knew what the little plastic strap was for. The piece is attached with 4 clips and that little clip made zero sense to me. If you look to the left of the connector you can see it. It is like a plastic string also attached to the dash so it could hang there when clips are removed.

Looks like the retention strap to keep the dash trim from being blown into you if the airbag goes off.

It’s a possibility it could be an air bag tether. These same type of tethers are also on the back sides of the A-pillar and C-pillar plastics where those air bags are also located.
