Does anyone have information on the 2015 5.0 as far as bearing clearances, head gasket material and other in depth details? Does it still implement oil squirters on the piston skirts? My machine shop buddy has been asking about the details on the motor...a Chevy guy, but he's impressed especially seeing the 5.2 Voodoo cars killing everything and I think he's considering a Ford for the first time in his life.

That is the most informative article I've seen on the coyote. Unfortunately, I'm looking for information on the latest version for 2015-2016 which has some substantial changes.

By the way...sorry for posting in the wrong section.

Do they still use the piston cooling jets (oil squirters)?

You know, one interesting thing is, Adam Browne at Rev Auto tells me the new 5.0 dynos the same numbers as the outgoing 2014 model even with the changes in the engine.

thought those were removed which is why there was a power gain in the later years of the S197

That's why I asked. I thought I read that somewhere.

I hope so.

From the link above:

"You may also think "weak" when viewing the Coyote's racy-looking but hypereutectic pistons. But there's a twist: oil-cooling jets. A fine mist of oil is squirted continuously from jets in the block's main webs. This oil sprays directly on the underside of the piston, at the vulnerable piston boss and bottom of the crown. The engineers sold the expense of oil jets to management by telling them it speeds engine warm-up (which is true), but the real reason was for piston cooling, hence longevity. This means the lighter, quieter, tighter-fitting, less-expensive hypereutectic piston can be run in this demanding high-rpm, high-load application.

Benefits of the squirters are extensive. Testing shows the crankshaft runs 25 degrees cooler with them, and they help with octane sensitivity. Combined with the heads superior water-jacketing they are one reason the high-compression Coyote can feed on 87-octane gasoline. Interestingly, adding piston-cooling oil jets was one thing engineers on the original Four-Valve modular-the 280hp Lincoln Mark VIII's 4.6-told us they would do if asked to increase performance. That was 17 years ago, so it's been a long wait for this fundamental improvement."

If it is the sole reason 87 octane can be fed, and we can still do so on our 2015 5.0, it would be logical to believe the squirters have not been removed.

I haven't seen a thing on this subject yet on the new version. I know I read somewhere the squirters were eliminated, but that may have been a different engine...maybe last year's GT500, not sure. Did that engine ever have them?

I know they were removed in late '12 because the '13's and '14's don't have them. I doubt the '15's have them.
