Goodday all,

I am Importing a car from copart. It has quite a high mileage 109458. It is a 2015 convertible ecoboost with 50th anniversary package

It is @sea at the moment and in about two weeks it Will arrive here in the Netherlands.

When it arrives I Will have a lot to do concerning front end damage. And checking for carbon buildup etc.

With a little bit of luck it Will be a Nice ride next to my 3.7 2015 (as a daily for my wife)

I am following this part of the forum for things to look out for and mods for the ecoboost engine.

Looks like she hit the rear of a fairly high pick up truck.
Hopefully nothing more than a new bumper, hood, hoodlatch, and lines + fittings. Everything else looks solid as hell.

As for mods... it already has north of 100,000 miles. Not sure if you're wanting to have it make more power, it is only a tiny I4 w/ a turbo. The block won't be able to handle much more power. You can make it on par w/ a base GT with some tune--ideally E85 to make it run a bit more "reliably."

Sadly she needs a new front slam panel, steel bumper, radiator, aircon radiator next to the parts you mentioned. Still very doable.

Concerning the mods, I am not planning on going over the top because of the miles it has on it. For example axleback, cai, tune and some wheel spacers.

Sadly here in the Netherlands getting e85 is very tricky. Getting some 98 octane gas is easy, luckily.

Luckily looks very minor, luckily the radiator support is unboltable but hopefully the damage did past radiator, I would say if your up to it then this will be the perfect time to do a 2018+ front end swap

I considered the front end swap, but my wife did not like the facelift styling. And considering this Will be het daily, she won.

I have just hit the first bump along the road.

things i knew:
  • When the car arrives in the Dutch port, I have to pay 10 percent import tax.
  • Over the 110 percent I have to pay 21 percent regular tax.
  • German paperwork (strange for the Netherlands but needed to get a licenseplate in the end).
  • Dmv checkup
  • Co2 tax which diminishes a bit Every year. If the car would be in perfect condition it would be around 5k euros (a little more in dollars). Damage largely deminishes this amount.

But now the sad part.

new rules state that the reduction can only be calculated on a driveable roadworthy car with no sharp objects or leaks. So I first have to repair a lot. Which makes the car worth more. And afterwards I have to pay more co2 tax because of my own repairs. Sigh.

That’s a pretty good score. Doesn’t looks like the fenders are beat up too bad either.

Hope the repairs go great.

First full inspection:

the damage luckily is not too bad. Only the radiator, condenser, intercooler, bumper, bumper cover, grille and plastic support, upper grille both headlights, radiator supports, slam panel, and front right fender, bonnet/hood, bonnet lock and fan need replacing.

the frame is intact. Only the holes/steel liep supporting the steel bumper need fixing.

All glass and the airbags are intact.

could have been worse.

the previous owner liked dunkin donuts 🍩 🤣 evidence was found. Including a few dollars of pocket change.

Here are some pictures of the progress.

During the teardown I found out the coolant tank was fractured, along with the transmission oil cooler. So at the moment I am waiting for those.

The radiator has been replaced.

i added the bumper cover loosely to see of the replaced slam panel lined up nicely.
