Ive had my fair shares of going down, some are my fault, some are others, im lucky to be alive. I had dedicated track bikes, dedicated stunt bikes, touring bikes etc.. Now I just have 2 bikes and I dont really mess around anymore. havnt done any shenanigans in over a year. Isn't worth the risk (I mean highway wheelies for miles standing up) I sold all my gear, and just commute.

As for giving up riding, only you can decide if its worth the risk. Its definitely scary at times, and rewarding at others. Ive been down at 5mph, 15, 40, 70 and 90mph. fortunately, no broken bones, just a bit of road rash and over the years its all faded out, I covered up with tattoos. minimal long term scarring.

Never let anyone make the choice for you to ride or not. Ive seen people die at my sides during riding before. Despite what anyone says, there's a major risk of life every time you get on that bike, it isn't like a car. (cars can die too) but there's nothing protecting you from anything off that bike during a crash or wreck

My first bike was a european spec Gsxr750 brought in from Canada when they werenā€˜t available in the states yet. Rode sport bikes my entire life as well as dirt. Lost to many friends to care to count, both on the street and dirt. Had one that was paralyzed from a desert race accident as well. I was lucky and was never really hurt. Had a nice Tuono V4 when my twin boys were born 4 years ago. I didnā€™t ride it after they were born, decided it was time, and they were reason enough. I just sold it about a month ago, thought Iā€˜d regret it. Luckily for me I have a wife that could care less what I buy as long as it brings me joy. Thus one Gt350 and One Gt350R Heritage in my shop. Couldnā€™t be happier.

correction: I do miss the sound of the V was every bit as unique as the 350ā€™s.

Great wife! Mine told me to get a GT350 instead of my base model GT but honestly it would not be good financially.

It was my fault. Went down in country roads gravel and dirt from tractors. Also how a friend of mine died.

$1500 dollar motorcycle suit. 600 dollar helmet, 200 dollar gloves, 300 dollar boots- this was the price that saved my life.

thereā€™s a reason why I donā€™t have the suit in the wheelie photo. It was absolutely devastated. Got rid of it. Ordered new helmet though.

the farmers got tired of groups of 20 of us ripping 90-150 in the turns in the countr. They went and poured gravel in the turns and straight a ways.
Yeah. Criminal, but we canā€™t prove their intent.

But we wasnā€™t obeying the law either. Lost one friend hitting an actual oversized tractor with the blades in a turn through wooded areas. he took up 1.5 lanes and well, in a turn you canā€™t do anything on bike in full lean.My friend was applying pressure but he was basically torn in half. It was absolutely awful.

Had another friend, young kid. He just got his first real sportbike bike after graduating off his little 250 he was riding for a year I think it was and came over to show us it, he didnā€™t make it home.

Thats why I put up my racing stuff and went to one cruiser and one sport cruiser. Just feels better for me, and I realize life is too fragile to keep what I was doing.

our group was disbanded, legally in way and morally. We had people going out getting drunk and making us look bador just regular cruise and some would want to hit 160-180mph on highways and run from cops causing rest of us to get issues for the group.

It was fun t in the beginning, was a legit motorcycle club for awhile.

I still have two bikes and enjoy riding them. But the increasing population of people who attempt to drive with their head up their *** makes me want sell both sometimes. When we have our first child itā€™ll definitely be a topic of discussion.

Interesting topic.
I have been riding or racing motorcycles for over 40 years.
The first 21 years was Motocross mostly, Novice to Pro. Did some street riding then.
Was injured a few times, but always came back stronger.
Been on the Street only now for 20 Years.
Had 1 wreak, Knock wood. Older lady pulled right out in front of me and I was doing 40 MPH. Thank God for the strong brakes on modern Sports Bikes as I almost had it stopped when I hit.
This was years ago and I still ride and will not give up what I enjoy just because of some Dumb ass drives. I ride like I am invisible and plan most of my routes where there would be less traffic. Scan the roads and traffic constantly and use all the skills acquired with years of riding.

It arguably could be said that owning a Mustang of any kind is not a good idea financially because of insurance, practicality, gas mileage, need for another vehicle for certain tasks Etc. Mostly, we buy em because we like ā€˜em. The fact is while one may need a vehicle, no oneā€needsā€ a Mustang.

Yeah well when a lady blows through a red that's been red for over a minute because of her damn cell phone, no skill will save you.
Wife's cousin got T-boned months ago and that almost happened to me last month.

I make enough where a GT doesn't hurt me but the GT350 would. I mean, I love the track and fun roads but not at the cost of my life or financial well being.

I refuse to live in Fear and will not live afraid to do something I so enjoy.
If we did that, none of us would do anything.
An accident can happen in a Car, Train, Airplane, walking down the street.
I will keep riding and if something happens, then it does. But I do all that I can to prevent anything from happening.
Advanced Driving and Riding courses, which I have been to, teach scanning ahead and having escape routes before they happen.
Everyone must make a choice.
I choose to riding and drive my Mustang.

A vehicle that gets you to school, work or wherever you need to go safely and reliably. Thatā€™s all anyone really ā€œneedsā€. Anything else is a want. I hope that you understand the difference between the two as it will be helpful in life.

You don't. If anything, everyone should have a smart car. Is more efficient comrade!

You're not understanding what I'm saying. If a lady on her cell phone blows through a red light, you're done. Nothing will save you from being T-bone'd. I pray that nobody goes through that.
