A situation has presented itself where this question has relevance in my life.

If you were given $100k to spend on a car which one would you get? Keep in mind $100k is the limit, you don’t have to actually spend all of it… I assume there’s going to be a Mustang bias but I grew up a Mopar guy and frankly I can’t ignore the obvious…

I'd invest it. If I had to spend it on a car it would be 71 Hemi 'Cuda.

Back in the day I had the 340 version. Great car

Say hypothetically I was given a significant amount more than that and lots of investing was already done, this is a percentage that’s left over for a splurge.

$100K would be a down payment on the first two, and the last does not exist...
My bad on the ‘22, I forgot the Mach1 took over. Let’s say ‘20 instead.

As for the first two, there’s multiple of that car on bringattrailer.com in the $75k range.

Had a 70 Challenger with the 383. Since that was 5he sister car to the Cuda I would pass on it. The 67 GT350 1/4 mile times were higher than my 22 Camry V6 so that would be a non starter also. I’d take what’s left if there was one!

No love for the 67 GT350 for reasons other than raw speed?

Why is that?
I love my GT350 and have owned a Mustang for many decades, BUT if I am handed 100K to get a new vehicle, I am stepping up to the next level of Craftsmanship and quality.

That's Porsche, Mercedes etc... So for me it would be a 911 S as this is closest to GT350 in driving experience minus the V8 noise. Another option would be Mercedes AMG.

If the V8 is a deal breaker, of the choices I would get the 20 GT350 then. I like more modern tech in my car.

All that makes a lot of sense… part of the thinking for me is something to leave my kids when I go. My dad is leaving me a couple muscle cars and it’s going to mean the world to me when I get them, I’d like to do the same for my kids, so part of it is having a bit of an iconic car too. I have a V8 already, that isn’t a deal breaker for me.

None of those choices. A Porsche 911s, newer model.
996 turbo for me. those things are hilariously deceptively fast and smooth in all the right ways.
voted new 350, tho, cause gun to my head i'd have to go for that.

100K for any mustang is a lot to ask imo.

I drove a euro version 86 turbo carrera for a few weeks, belonged to my boss at the time. It was a fun car but I could not get past the 1970 VW Bug feeling I got from it.
