If you were buying a stripped GT with one option what would it be?

I bought a 300A+PP1 and would NOT do it again. MUCH better parts can be sourced and installed for a fraction of the PP1 price tag which is $6000+ now. The ONLY redeeming item the PP1 has that you can't otherwise get without spending a boatload is the loaded diff with 3.73 and Torsen.

AE cables get cut and the servo is just more stupid stuff to go wrong. Pass. Get a cat-back if you must but an H/X pipe more than does the business.

If you want cheap thrills in the guise of 'drive modes' AKA different throttle maps get the x01A. But you might as well get a tune to fix the factory mappings anyway. The touchscreen is way overrated. And you can buy a retrofit kit for HALF what Ford now charges ($2400)

The PP1 suspension is rubbish - just buy the FP track kit.
The PP1 brakes can be sourced in 3 different colors besides ugly-ass-mottled-gray for a fraction of the price Ford charges for the WindowSticker version of the kit.

Personally buy the stripper and then spend money where you want and the get GOOD components, not the vastly overpriced factory-installed options.

The ONLY 'single' option that makes any kind of sense anymore is the Ecoboost HPP+HP (ok, it's 2).

I just went thru OP's exercise and in the harsh light of value for money exactly NONE of the other options can be defended.
This?

you're taking my tongue-in-cheek response WAY too seriously! If I'm driving lazy, I put my hand at 6 o'clock or use finger tips of the left hand with that arm on the door-side ledge. But really, if you can't comfortably maintain 3/9, 4/8, 2/10 etc then you probably should adjust your seating to wheel relationship.
Shogun.... No Sir ... I was being sincere .. I guess if you was fooling with me , I was too dumb to catch it ... I think I will just get one of those dipshit cars that do all the driving by itself ..and pray it don't have a "CHIP MALFUNCTION " and headon into a 18 wheeler ..!!!!! Thanks for the entertainment ... junqdawg

in all seriousness you could create a platform that sits in the one cup-holder and the other end rests on top of the console storage cubby, and suitably padded like @Bikeman315 mentioned. One yank and the whole thing comes out and can be thrown into the back seat.

I did a lot of reading/watching videos on the MT82 since I ordered a '22 manual. Generally you get two main schools of thought 1) It's trash, it will fail, the "body mounted" shifter is terrible, the D4 version has awful gear ratios and 2) it's actually not bad at all, the stock shifter is actually fairly "clicky" and accurate in how it feels, aftermarket shifters can make improvements for those who aren't 100% happy with it, and the revised D4 gears in practice don't cause any issues with performance and drivability.

As for the Tremec. Of course it's good. As I understand it's updated and based on the T-56, which I have a lot of experience driving in a Camaro. The T-56 is/was a tough transmission, but to shift worth a damn an aftermarket shifter was 100% required. It was a tougher trans to get into gears overall than the MT-82, at least in my experience. This may be different on the revised Tremec, who knows, but none of these things are without flaw.

Finally, I'd take with a grain of salt any MT82 complainers who are sitting in an A10 Mustang. They are just trying to justify their choice.

Addendum: FWIW, back in the day there were mountains of complaints about T5's in foxbody and SN95 cars. Endless talk about failing synchros and that they were "like glass" under lots of torque.... and yet... the vast majority of still-running-and-driving foxbodies are running factory T5's without any issues. Usually if someone broke a synchro or a gear, it was how they were driving or they indeed put too much power in front of it. The memories for most people of that tranny are rather warm and positive. Will the Getrag be the same? Only time will tell. As for me, I have an 8 year, 100k mile warranty from Ford on my car and I'm not worried about it.
This is about as accurate as it gets. I had a Tremec in my GTO and it was greatly improved with a JHP short throw. I’ve done nothing to my MT82-D4 and it shifts as well as the Tremec with the short throw. The gearing could be better for tracking, but it works great on the street and strip (I can actually trap in 3rd gear with a 27” drag radial without hitting the limiter).

If I get tired on a long trip, I just suggest a bj would help revive me. The wife’s back makes a great arm rest. :like:

Shogun, looks nice, but can you describe in terms of all the usual measurements?
Those are 315/50/17's. 17X10.5 wheels.

Aren't 3.55 gears standard? Or at least a free option I guess.

LOL, that's not an option, it's a separate model.
I self-identify as a person buying a Mustang with the GT500 as a singular option.

The post asked what single option would you add to the GT. (nice try though)

2018 Mustang GT PP1 Magneride
The Premium package since it makes the car a million times nicer. otherwise every single thing the pp1 has you can do better on your own Take it from me. I have a fully loaded 18 GT premium pp1 with magneride and besides the magneride I have replaced almost every single thing the pp1 comes with stock except the brembos which I did replace the calipers to the real red calipers that brembo makes for the Bullit. But that’s just because I’m a nut. Not a needed change clearly. The magneride is nice but I don’t think it’s something that’s really that serious of a game changer in regards to the car. Swap out the suspension for quality coil overs and you’re good.
