Stopped by Stoneham Ford today just to go out for a ride.
Talked to the salesman and you better have DEEP pockets if you want this car! Theyā€™re asking $10,000 over sticker! I got my Shelby for sticker at this same dealer. Times have sure changed big time!

Most likely waiting for customer who wants it right now and donā€™t want to wait. The rest of us, just use the couple of dealerships that advertise here for under dealerā€™s invoice
I paid just under MSRP and chose not to order online here due to needing to trade my previous Mustang in that I was also still needing to drive, plus my wife worked for the owner years ago, and it was a trustworthy experience.

Well, tell them to give $10k more for a trade in and itā€™s a washā€¦. LMFAO.

The problem is, if people pay it, the Dealerships keep adding their own ADMā€¦. If people would just hold a stance and call BS by WALKING, these cars would sit and force the Dealership to drop ADM. The longer a new car sits on any Dealer lot, the more $$$ they lose every day in interest, insurance and overhead.

People need to start taking a stand on this ADM BS. Hereā€™s (2) things to keep in mind about ā€œADMā€ markups:

1) In the event of a total loss claim, the Insurance Co. isnā€™t going to payout ACV+ADM and they donā€™t care at all that some poor sorry ass paid $10k, $20k, or $30k ADM above MSRPā€¦. Itā€™s irrelevant when it comes to ACV and Insurance/Lender Industry Black/Red book values.

2) If for any reason the vehcile is ever to go through a Ford Buy Back (Lemon Law), ADM is not recoverable by Ford RAV. ADM only benefits the Selling Dealership, not Ford Corp. and ADM is not and never was a line item on the original Window Sticker or suggested MSRP label.

But see on #1 the dealer then has a very tangible argument, one they created themselves, on selling their overpriced GAP insurance.

Gap doesn't cover ATM . it covers true value of unit up to msrp. If you paid 10k atm and then 2k for ppf and another 500 for whatever, gap insurance don't care, no matter what the guy at the dealership CLAIMED to get you to buy the gap coverage.

Crazy price. There is a used one with 10k miles on it at the local Dodge dealer. They are asking 57k which is a little more than I would pay for a new one.

Thatā€™s not entirely accurate. It typically depends on the policy and the amount financed.
Most cases the gap covers the remaining loan balance. If someone was able to fully financed (not likely but not unheard of) the vehicle, including the outrageous ADM, then yes gap would cover it.

Iā€™m certainly not a gap advocate, and anyone with any sense (unless they just have money to burn) would have a minimum 20% down and would pay a reasonable price for the vehicle, therefore never needing the rip-off gap insurance.

Read the fine print is all I can say.
Gap covers 100% of the retail value of the vehicle covered, not the finance office add on's and dealership tacked on atm. Only time it covers any of that, is when you got the price lower than msrp and then the vehicle price+ add on's didn't go over the 100% retail value of the vehicle covered.
Again all I'll say is read the fine print.
I look at it this way, if you need gap insurance you paid to much.

Agree to disagree on that fine print (all depends on the policy) cause I know a thing or two, because Iā€™ve seen a thing or two, about insurance šŸ˜‰.

However šŸ’Æ agree on your last statement.

While I would personally never paid ADM, I have no problem with anyone doing it
Itā€™s their money and they have the right to do whatever they want with it
As for the impact on prices for ā€œusā€ youā€™re right but itā€™s no different that anything else in life
If people would not pay inflated prices for real estate, SUV, etc, prices would of course be cheaper
Itā€™s really economic 101

Real estate is the sole exception to never paying a premium. They're not making any more of it.
