Watching the video a couple times, it seems like it was staged and at the end they just wiped out.

So then you appear in the future after the radio transmission has spread. Heck, if you go far enough into the future the time machine won't even outrun a stone tablet.

You'd have to go backwards in time to "outrun" the radio while remaining on the planet. You'd either have to live out your life before the radio transmission was ever made or stay outside of the volume of space the radio transmission can touch (which expands 8x as fast as the distance the waves have travelled).
