I have a 2015 Pro charged mustang stage twoI have a remanufactured motor that had under 2000 miles and it spun a bearing on cylinder 8. The shop that it is currently at cannot rebuild motors but at this point I will not trust that remanufactured motor.
they have this short block option does have lower compression. I know nothing about engine parts what is your opinion on this built motor how much horsepower can’t handle and how much boost can it handle? It is currently at their shop.

They’re closed right now so I haven’t asked them any questions on my options. I’m just doing research on the block that is on their site. And I know they’re awesome. I trust them completely I’ve been a customer for over 10 years.

So the reduced compression will be good for boost on 93. SHould give it a little more room to wiggle before detonation. But if your plan is to always use E85, then personally I would go for all the compression that is available.
I had my 3rd gen engine rebuilt and had them set it up for 10.5 to 1 compression. All I have access to is 93. I can make up the difference in lower compression with more boost. and gain a higher detonation threshold.
6k aint bad for that. I spent 11k having mine rebuilt. I had them sleave my 3rd gen block though, added valve springs, HD guides and tensioners.

I have a return style fuel system. Id like the max 93 pulley and use that for E85 as well. Do you know how much more psi on 93 @ 10.0 compression ?

@noshine4mine my Lund tuner told me that if I go with the lower compression my car is going to make less power on 93. Because no matter the compression the 93 is a limiting factor And you begin to see detonation at about 10 psi even on a built motor. He told me get 11 or 12 compression but the higher the better basically. He said even if the engine is built about 10 psi on 93 is max

What a load of BS, sorry.

Rule of thumb is that each compression number allows about 4 psi more boost when at borderline knock. That’s assuming the fuel system, supercharger, and intercooler are up to the task.

@engineermike I sent you a screen recording by of the emails it was just today. I don’t know if 10 is a good compression and I asked him lol

Most tuners have a file for certain mods, like a centri blower. They used their R&D time on stock compression.

With 10 to 1 compression you will make the same power or more with a larger margin of safety.

What he said is true to a point. Everything equal the higher compression engine will make more power.

Detonation from cylinder pressure can be caused by either higher static or higher boost.

So if the (random numbers coming) 12 to 1 engine hits knock at 10 psi and 16 degrees of timing the 10 to 1 motor will hit knock at 18 psi at 16 degrees. Got that number using Mikes 4 psi per comp ratio.

In theory the higher boost engine will make more power. You can also lower the boost to say 14 raise the timing to 20, still make the same or more power and have a larger margin of safety. Both for detonation and bearing life.
