My car us a 15' vert, manual, Gen3 Whipple, 3.5 pulley, 95lbs injectors, BAP, Cat deletes, 3.31 gears, and 305/35/20 tires. I've got a 93 tune, and a 100 octane tune loaded up.

My issue is the that the taller tires make my effective gear ratio 3.18 and the car is heavy! I'd like a little more zing lower in the RPM range.

Some day I'll do a gear swap, but I'm thinking going to the 3.375 pulley. I have access to great fuel, no timing being pulled with the 3.5 and monitor I KR values closely. I'd probably lower my redline on the 93 tune for daily drving to about 7k, leave it at 7700 on the 100 Octane tune.

I don't push my car past 7k unless there is an ocassion anyway, and I wouldnt mind having a little more boost in the meat of the RPM range.

Thoughts on this idea? Is the 3.375 getting to the point where belt slip could be an issue with a 6 rib set up?

Thanks!

Do you have access to E85, that would give you the zing you are looking for. Otherwise try the Griptec 6 rib pulley to make sure slipping is not the issue.

I should have mentioned that...no E85 around me.

I run the 3.5" pulley, 3.31's with a 275/45/18 28" tall drag radial on the street.. it will blow the tires off anything below 55mph. Are you saying your car dead hooks and goes?

don't scare me like that bro

My car is in the shop getting 3.31 gears from 3.73. If it's going to feel completely gutless that's going to be disappointing

You'll like them don't worry. Even with the paxton that has no low end, I hardly noticed a difference in the lower rpm after the switch. I did notice a big change during pulls though. The gears seem to last for eternity so it'll be fun, especially on the highway.

Only drawback I found was that 60 rolls will be tough now. I bet you'll like 2nd gear 50s and 3rd gear 70s. This is all assuming you have the mt-82.

No way In hell you can run 93 with a 3.325 without pulling an insane amount of timing which is totally pointless.

What kind of power are you making for each octane and who did the tune? I'm in the process of switching to 95 lb injectors and a BAP and was wondering what I should expect to put down.

Even with 3.55s and less weight, my Gen 2 is pretty sluggish anywhere under 4K unless it’s freezing cold ambient.
In your shoes, I’d be more inclined to ditch the gears than go chasing more boost with the added risk/heat that goes with it.
I tried an alternative tuner, results did improve slightly but still not really in the neighbourhood of my expectation.

Yep, MT 82, gen 3 whipple stage 2 on pump gas. I did hear that I can do 60 rolls in second now. I also am doing the MGW shifter so hopefully that shift into 3rd is a lot smoother.

Yeah 2nd will be your 60 roll but you'll see that it's kind of an early shift. You'll probably be at like 5700-5900 rpm.

The last thing you want to do with a power adder is swap to more rear end gear.

Proper fuel system, proper octane fuel, more boost and done.
