I swear I’ve tried hard every way I can on the Ford website but getting a definitive answer is hopeless. I’m likely getting very close (maybe this week) to buying a garage mate for my 2020 GT Premium with the 401a package and I need to know what all I’ll lose by going to a base GT with the 301a package. In addition to whatever else I may lose, will the selectable drive modes still work the same way? That is to say, can I still configure the steering, suspension and exhaust the way I want and save said configuration as “my mode”? And what about cruise control; do I have to get safe and smart in order to get to get cruise?

Any help would be appreciated.

premium only affects creature comfort stuff. base 301A gets you all drive modes.
i just ordered a base 301A pp1 without mag or active exhaust.

If you’re going to modify the car, get the base. If not but you want performance, get the PP1. If you want more, get the PP2. If you don’t care about performance but want comfort, get the premium. If you want performance and comfort, get a premium PP1 (or 2). If you want to (according to people on this forum) over pay for moderate sound, get the BO system. If you want safety and whatever get the safe and whatever package…?

Since it’s your money and not mine, I’d say get the Mach 1 HP.

Yeah, I have the B&O in my ‘20 GT convertible. I bought the car from dealer stock so didn’t really have much choice. It sounds OK and I do love my music but for me it’s a complete waste of money. I almost never turn it on. The real music for me comes from the AE in track mode with the top down.

Thank you!

Where was this hiding?
If you google "20XX order guide" you should be able to find most years if you want to compare what came with the car.

No my mode in a base. Selectable modes but no my mode button.
So, no my mode in a base even with the 301a package? I would have thought that with selectable drive modes there would have to be a my mode function.

If not, this is exactly the kind of gotcha I’m concerned about.

Very easy to flip the mode button and steering button to cycle through them, even on the move.

Just to be sure, even without my mode in a base 301a, if I have AE and select track mode I’ll still get the track exhaust right? I’d just keep it in track mode and it would be pretty much the same as the way I have my mode configured in my 401a premium.

BTW, I just read something on page 190 in my 2020 owner’s manual that basically said you could add my mode to your selectable drive modes by going into the steering wheel menu and setting it up. After the initial setup it would then appear along with your other drive modes. So maybe it is there in the base 301a?

I’ve not seen that option. Always thought my mode was tied to the pony button. Yes if you have AE when you pick sport+ or track it gets loud. I think it goes back to normal after shutdown or mine does with 400a gt premium.

401a has the awesome gauge cluster. That made 401a an easy choice for me.

I believe you need the 201a/401a package to get MyMode. I think its connected to getting the digital instrument cluster.

That's just to change your MyMode settings. After you set it up MyMode gets added to the list of drive modes you can toggle through.

Yep, this right here is how I understand it. It appears that the only prerequisite for setting up My Mode is to have the selectable drive modes, which would obviously be the 301a package. Nothing is mentioned about base vs. premium, etc.
